Are you afraid of death? Have you accepted that you will die someday?

Recently I have been thinking about death a lot. Probably because of the plane disaster and the Israel-Palestine war..

Obviously everyone will die. I have recently started to think about the moment I will die and how it would feel. That has helped me slowly accept death. I wonder how you guys and girls have dealt with it.

How did you manage to to accept that you will die?

I don't worry about dying because we are all going to die sometime but when you die it is not the way you see it on tv or the movies for 98% of the people where you just close your eyes and peacefully go to sleep. It is usually a painful drawn out process and that is why i believe that once you are past the point of no return you should have the option of doctor assisted euthanasia.

I fear death a lot, and yet can't accept the fact that i am gonna die. It really sucks. Its not like going away for 1 week or something, your gone, you don't come back, its over, you don't exist anymore. I don't believe in the afterlife so therefore it makes it even harder, so its just the void after i will die...

I am one of those person that wish he could live forever, despite seeing my loves one come and go and so on....

This is the way I see it Haloween Mike,

Before you you born you were "non existent". Think about how that felt and it should pretty much be the same after you die. After you die, things go back to normal.

Freddy Mercury said it best.

Look behind you.
Being an Atheist when I die I die plus I agree with Jeff Jones in assisted suicide. Both my ex-wife's parents had Alzheimer and it was a sad thing to see, do not want that to happen as it is very hard on the family.
Should have saved a couple of 8 balls from 20 years ago for the final day.

It is called the curse of consciousness, I suspect any other animals projecting themselves in the future and thinking about their own death. It happens to me to think about it, but I try to discard these thoughts as they come in.

I'm not afraid of my own death. I've had a pretty good life and I already accomplished most of what I wanted. What is sad is people who die without ever having some good times or doing anything with their life. I hope I don't die of a long disease, but I hope I don't die in my sleep either. When it happens I want to see it.

I fear death, the end of everything [well as far as I'm concerned].

However I usually do a pretty good job not thinking about it. All the other arguements suggesting it isn't a big deal just come across as rationalizations. Also I just can't get down with that jebus fellow.

I fear death as well…
I must admit I think of it often…

It's a really chity feeling it hurts.
But then I count every day as a blessing and try and truly appreciate every thing I have.

I do believe that the fear of death is reserved for the young. As I have aged and seen my children grow up, my grandchildren born and success in my business I feel that I have accomplished pretty much everything I set out to do in my life. Do I want to die, no ! But I am able to accept that it is inevitable and hence have no fear of dying. I have to add that I would not like to die in pain as Olivia mentioned but we don't always have that choice. I try to live each day doing something for a stranger even if it's only holding a door open, I say good morning to as many people (strangers) as I can and I try to be active for at least 30 mins everyday. Add to this that I don't drink much, don't smoke and do not use drugs, life is good. If we all tried to improve the world we live in just a little each day there would be a little satisfaction that we left the world a better place, that makes me feel better.

I thought about it when I was a kid, but haven't done so in quite a while. Now I worry more about the death of people around me, e.g., friends, families, etc. Because of this post, I probably should start worrying about it again.

I am not afraid of death per se. We will all die - there is no point worrying about that which we cannot control. I try to live each day to the fullest (although that is easier said than done).

I would say that, if anything, I am afraid of suffering - I would not want to be sick and suffer a long time before dying. Also, I don't want to die any time soon because of the pain and sadness that it would cause to my loved ones.

Suffering yes is one thing... but i don't think i am that afraid of suffering before death than death itself. Its the simple concept of "stoping to exist" wich pss me off badly. I am the kind of person that take life very seriously, i don't even kill insects and stuff. If i find a spider in my home i put it outside... I have a lot of respect for life, that why all those idiotic wars and conflict piss me off to a degree... Humanity sometimes can be such a shitty creature... I don't understand how they can think like that.

The funny part is that most wars are due to religion, millions of people have died for religion.

Yup...dying for a being that probably don't exist... or at least you can't have any proof that he does, pretty pathetic if you ask me. I can understand the old times where people would fight for there kings and such. Was it a good thing? No, but at least the king existed and there was reason behind the wars (mostly conquering and expending). But fighter wars over religions is absolutely pointless as you fight for something that don't exist...

Or that conflict in ukraine... so pointless...
