I intend to will myself to live forever. Well at least another 80 years.
BTW my grandfather's last words were "where's my wallet?" True story.

Look behind you.
My son is all set, my daughter is doing well in college, when she is all set I will liquidate what I have and move to a place that does not see snow and finish my days.
You know you are gonna die, it is how you die that makes a difference.

Ironic how this 2 year old thread on death was revived.

The thought of death makes me realize how short life is. Sometimes I envision myself as being old and approaching death, and reflecting back upon my life. I imagine quantifying how much time I spent on certain aspects of life. The average person could spend about 25 years sleeping, 11 years working, 5 years waiting in lines, 6 months waiting for traffic lights...

I hope we all maximize the amount of quality time we spend with loved ones or doing things we truly enjoy. I work hard at advancing my career, but I am always anxious to walk out that door and give a hug to a loved one. I can't wait to be retired and have more control over how I allocate my precious time.

I enjoyed reading this thread. Thanks for sharing the interesting viewpoints and experiences.

All living things will die in time. For the vast majority life is short and cheap.... killed for food.
Humans are rarely killed for food , but they kill themselves in vast numbers in non ending wars.
A few species like humans and dolphins can commit suicide.
What fascinates me are older people who can will themselves to die.
My aunt died at 99 when she closed her eyes and said it was time to go to the next life.
A friend of mine`s dad was 93 when he asked his wife for a glass of brandy and when she said no because it was bad for his health.....he looked at her and said fine then I`ll die....closed his eyes and was gone.
Me,I`m not afraid of death but I am afraid of losing control of my life.

Personally, I have health issues which will only get worse over the next few years. Having spent my life working in health care, I have a pretty good idea of the possible health issues which likely await me years from now... . But that's one of the many mysteries of life: we do not know our future. This is one of the many questions people often wonder about... Enjoy life as much as you can while you're still young and healthy. Time goes by much quicker than we realize.

Ditto for me...
