It should be noted that critics excoriated Roger Moore for the perceived impact of his age on his performance in this film, far moreso than they did Craig for his last film. It also should be noted that the only Bond Theme Song to ever hit #1 on the Billboard charts was Duran Duran's A View To a Kill:

For what it is worth, and I think I may have said this earlier in the thread, but the 2 all time best Bond theme songs - with apologies to Sir Paul McCartney for "Live and Let Die" (which I rank #3) are both by female artists: "Nobody Does It Better" by Carly Simon, and "You Only Live Twice" By Nancy Sinatra:
What is it about the Craig ones that you don't like? Is it specific to Bond or most films...?
I don't care for the Craig Bond films either, although I must say I was deeply impressed by Craig's acting in Knives Out. That was his best performance of his career.
All the movies made after Tomorrow Never Dies I progressively lost interest. It is the way the movies were made kind of boring and not my cup of tea. The Craig movies moved away from classical Bond style they modernized it too much. Maybe I am just old school but I liked in general the movies from the 80's as for Bond I liked most of the movies made before Tomorrow Never Dies. The last two Craig movies I did not even bother watching. The actor himself is okay but just the movies sucked. I suspect the movies will appeal to a younger generation. I want that classic Bond style movies like with Sean Connery and Roger Moore.
I think they were quite influenced by the Bourne style of action - but as for the character - it's closer to the books than most of the others.
Since we're on the topic then though - how did you feel about Dalton as Bond?
Yep and I did not like the Bourne Identity. As for Dalton, not fitting for Bond... He was too crude and short tempered however I did like the movies he did. Roger Moore was at his best in the 70's movies after that his age was really showing. Sean Connery I have to say was the best of them all . He was very fitting for the role of Bond. He had the look, suaveness, and charisma for the role. He was at his best in the 60's movies. Pierce Brosnan is a close second.
I gotta tell ya - I love them all, each in their own way. Even George Lazenby.
Yes I agree about Dalton. Good actor but too short-tempered and dark for Bond. That part in The Living Daylights where he uses a girl as a human shield was not cool. Licence To Kill had some great moments, especially the oil tanker chase.
I agree Moore started looking a bit long in the tooth in the 80s. Yet For Your Eyes Only and Octopussy were great Bond films and A View To A Kill had great moments too.
It seems Octopussy was the last of the "glamourous" Bond films, apart from maybe The World Is Not Enough.

The Duran song is the best of all IMHO.
You Only Live Twice by Nancy Sinatra is another great one that is very under-rated.

I'll take the bait. Timothy Dalton was the best Bond and License to Kill was the best Bond film and Carey Lowell was the best Bond babe (her smile at the casino table could start a war). Dalton was gritty and realistic and a Shakespearean trained actor.
Connery was solid, Moore should have retired three films ago and Brosnan, while he looks the part, was harmed by poor and gimmicky writing. Craig is a thug, pure and simple.

Funny how opinions differ on who is the better bond.....for me Daniel Craig is the best Bond. He brought back a coldness to the character, he is after all an assassin. Also there is less out of this world gadgets too.I must give a thumbs up to Pierce Bronsan also.There is a scene in The World is not Enough, where he confronts Electra King (Sophie Marceau) and she tells him basically too F*&%-off....without hesitation he just shoots her. Even M (Judi Dench) looks surprised and realizes when the time comes....he gets the job done.
Totally liked for last line. But I like too many of the theme songs to pick a favorite. There are a lot of underrated ones. The Louis Armstrong one from the only Lazenby movie, "License to Kill" by Gladys Knight, even Shirley Bassey's "Moonraker" are all underrated. I'm waiting to hear the Billie Eilish one when I watch the movie.
Moonraker and License To Kill are indeed pretty good songs.
I hate the Armstrong tune but I love the instrumental theme from OHMSS, which actually opens the film. It's another one of my favorites.
While I am no Dalton fan I agree License to Kill is a pretty good film, and the pre-Law And Order Carey Lowell was sexy AF. The oil tanker chase is amazing, and there are several other good scenes.
Totally agree about Craig. He may be hard as nails but the role also requires charm, humor, and charisma, which he has none of.
If Dalton didn't nail Lowell, he wasted his Bond cred. She is my #1 ATF due to that film alone. That dress and smile when he's winning at BJ is what every guy dreams about:
