Updated legal explanation Ontario (London Court) rules C36 violates the Charter related to escort agency
Since there's no appeal, the decision is operative and in force.

However, the lower court decision doesn't bind any other court. At most, its effect is merely "persuasive" on judges at that same bottom tier. Full stare decisis (precedent) only applies to decisions of higher courts.

The decision is well-reasoned and stands alone and it appears that the Crown wants no part of laying any further charges in the absence of evidence of coercion, or forced trafficking or underage girls.

So the decision is in force and persuasive and uncontradicted by any other authority, but not legally binding on any other judge.

And it has no effect on out of province cases, except again "persuasive".

Above based on Oagre's response on Terb, who is a lawyer

"Canada's sex work laws are creating undue harm and contribute to human rights violations during COVID-19, sex workers and human rights advocates say, which is why they're now pushing Ottawa to stop enforcing them.

Amnesty International Canada has joined a number of rights and sex work advocates in a lobby effort asking federal Justice Minister David Lametti for a moratorium on prostitution laws."

. . . .

""Because sex work is not recognized as work, the labour standards and protocols that other industries are receiving right now are not available to the sex industry," said Jenn Clamen, national co-ordinator of the Canadian Alliance for Sex Work Law Reform.

"We need to make sure the existing laws on the books aren't enforced," said Jackie Hansen, women's rights campaigner for Amnesty International Canada."
. . . .

""Criminalization is a direct barrier for accessing CERB and is a direct barrier for sex workers accessing other legal and social, medical supports in the community," said Jelena Vermilion, executive director of Sex Workers' Action Program (SWAP) Hamilton."
. . . .

""We continue to engage with individuals and groups affected by the former Bill C-36," the statement said, referring to the federal prostitution law brought in under the Conservative government of former prime minister Stephen Harper.

That law is up for its mandatory five-year review this year, which Lametti's office said will provide "an appropriate forum for parliamentarians to examine the full range of effects that this legislation has had since its coming into force.""

I’ve always wanted to go to Globe in Zurich. It’s on my bucket list. It is supposed to be 2x as expensive but the girls are all supposed to be model material. I can’t imagine that there are much better choices than the top end girls at Sharks or Golden Times. The grass is always greener on the other side but still I want to see. I’m glad that there is still hope that one man’s dreams can be realized.

I have been to Globe a few times, although not recently. Didn't really notice that much difference between it and the clubs in Germany. A little more expensive, but nowhere close to 2x. Unless, of course, you count other trip expenses, like food and lodging, then it might get crazy expensive, sky is the limit.

Still good news about Switzerland, the Swiss are obviously too smart to tolerate that Nordic Model bullshit.

great, just in time with the conservatives being re-elected…(most likely in the next year or two)
They will get to choose the new law again

This does not change anything! Liberals are against it and so are the Conservatives. The only party for it is the Libertarian Party of Canada but no one is interested in freedom.

So... Is it really true that the majority of SPs do it out of necessity or because they are coerced? Or is the truth that majority do it because they decide to do it so they can make good money. Are we being constantly fed a mis-message that no one has verified? Do we have stats that speak to the truth?

the article tropes the notion that 80% of sex workers started when thy were minors which has been disproven multiple times. It is a shameful police practice and a shameful article.

The police in the burbs of Montreal, namely Laval and Longueuil, don't like sex work in their municipalities and actively fight it. Montreal (thankfully) is a different story.

Yes its grand prix time...
