Dear CoolBaba, This morning CBC radio announced a Samba Festival on Esplanade so as a samba lover, i was very happy to pass away the news and looking fowarding to dance and having fun. When I got there it was not at all what i was expecting. Althoough it was fun and i enjoyed myself any ways. Sorry if you went there and got desapointed as well.

If Bete Carvalho does come to Montreal, i shall let you guys know for sure. For she is bringing all her musicians fresh from brazil and that sound much more like a brazilian great party.

Juliana I agree with you, Beth Carvalho (born in Rio in 1946) is a great singer and a good spokeperson for Brazil.

She is well known, among other things, for the hymn «Orden e progresso» of the MST (Movimento dos sem Terra). Beth is a carioca da gema (a genuine resident of Rio).
In 2005, she made her first DVD: Beth Carvalho, a madrinha do samba.

She is not my favorite singer (Adrianna Calcanhotto, Alcione and......ah! Gal Costa are my favorite ones) but if she visits us, I gonna be in the crowd, for sure!

Wow, you Protagoras you are so much more familiar with Bete Carvalho's biography then me. That's right she is coming to Montreal with a band called Quinteto Branco e Preto to advertize the video you are mentioning. When I get more details and dates i shall let you guys know.

So you and CoolBaba loves Adriana Calcanhoto hum me too. Does any of you has her latest record ? If you do we could do an exchange. Just let me know any Brazilian record you may be eagar to get. If i have it I could make a copy for you and vise versa. Phone me, please dont send me private messages. My computer is very slow, so answering private messages is very time consuming to me and a burden. People who send me private messages have to wait for an answer because i have to go to an internet cafe to responto to it.

Brazilian Music Show from Rio this Sartuday Night in Montreal

Dear Brazilian Music Lovers there will be a Brazilian Music Show with the band
Seu Jorge this Sartuday night at club soda sep 10 at 9 PM.
There is an interview with him in the Mirror this week. He is the front page. His band mix Samba with Funk and Rock and Hip Hop and Rap and other brazilian music styles, see you there if you come by. He is fresh from Rio in brazil, and authentic Brazilian music is often class A act.

However I have a lot of fun here, bcuz I´m currently in São Paulo. This week I´ve seen João Bosco and later this week I gonna see Fafa de Bélem, not bad hey?

Hey merbites, you will have to redefine the meaning of GFE and YMMV. I met this week Leticia Lima, a lovely mineira....150 Réais (about 75$) for two hours....after the session she asked me if she could spend the entire night with me for free, um tesão total!!!!!!!

Were any of you...... at Club Soda sartuday night ?

I was at the Seu Jorge show last night, it was great.

Were any of you members of merb. ca there last night at the club soda ?

I danced on the stage twice.

I had so much fun, and the music was so inspiring, the musicians were so generous. My poor vocabulary lack words to describe the grandeur of the show. The show of Seu Jorge last night made me realised that i am very off from my true self.
