As a person following this virus situation from day 1, this is EXACTLY RIGHT. Hospitalization rate is tremendously high.

What he described above has exactly happened in Wuhan, China. When people all rushed into hospital, the healthcare system was just broken down. People in Wuhan even had to wait tens of hours to see doctors or wait for an ambulance. Many people, not just senior, even died in their own home, simply because no hospital can take them in anymore. Lots of horribles things that you cannot imagine did happen in Wuhan last month.

Whoever comparing COVID-19 to flu is simply ignorant. Take care ALL!

a point made by dr fauci, head of nih, during his testimony in front of congress:

https://www.businessinsider.com/top-highlights-of-dr-anthony-fauci-congressional-testimony-2020-3à

quote from the article:

Dr. Fauci: "Well, SARS was also a coronavirus in 2002. It infected 8,000 people, and it killed about 775. It had a mortality of about 9 to 10%. That's only 8,000 people in about a year. In the two and a half months that we've had this coronavirus, as you know we now have multiple multiples of that. So it clearly is not as lethal. And I'll get to the lethality in a moment, but it certainly spreads better. Probably for the practical understanding of the American people, the seasonal flu we deal with every year has a mortality of 0.1%. The stated mortality overall of this when you look at all the data, including China, is about 3%, it first started off as 2 and now 3. I think if you count all the cases of minimally symptomatic or asymptomatic, that probably brings the mortality down to around 1%. Which means this is ten times more lethal than the seasonal flu. I think that's something that people can get their arms around and understand."

also good interviews with him on nbc and fox :

NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade postponed due to virus
https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/chicago-cities-cancel-st-patricks-day-parades-69539394
NEW YORK -- The New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been postponed for the first time in its 258-year history because of coronavirusconcerns, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Wednesday.

The postponement of the March 17 parade adds to the roster of events and holidays upended around the world by the spreading infection. The New York parade honoring Irish heritage dates back longer than the United States and draws tens of thousands of marchers and throngs of spectators to Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue

What about Montreal’s Parade Sunday 3/22/20? What are they waiting for?

COVID-19: Could Montreal's Saint Patrick's Day parade be cancelled?
https://montreal.ctvnews.ca/covid-1...t-patrick-s-day-parade-be-cancelled-1.4847966

MONTREAL -- With numerous events around the world being cancelled or postponed because of the spread of COVID-19, some in Montreal are expressing concern that the same could happen to the city's Saint Patrick's Day parade.

For 197 years, Montrealers have lined the streets to celebrate the city's Irish heritage.

"It would be a real downer to not have a parade in Montreal and it's kind of like, 'the Rite of Spring,'" said Kevin Tracey, spokesperson for the United Irish Societies of Montreal. "As soon as we have the parade, spring is officially here."

“a real downer”....OMG, REALLY!

The Tokyo Olympics may be next to be Cancelled.

CB that girl that took the public transport is exactly why they are shutting down some countries, borders and mandatory quarantine groups of people. Too many people do not want to spend hundred $ for cabs or even avoid going to work cus they cannot afford it. Of course our leaders cannot say it that way but its the main issue they are facing.

We are looking at a very difficult month to go through. Seeing so many politicians, celebrity and sportsman getting this virus is worrying. That has never happened. Millions of worker will be without a job for a few months (including myself!). These extreme measures will work and we will successfully overcome this virus by early to mid-june.

No one can accuse me of being a pessimist. Look at the bright side pollution is down and you can see the sun over most of China.
With 20 percent of government pension recipients die ing over the next 3 months ….social security is saved and university debts will be paid off with inheritance benefits from your grandpa.
Let`s all get our last fuck before we are all get put into exclusion zones.

The pandemic started in China because an idiot handled a bat out of hell.
It spread so quickly in Korea , Iran and Italy because of religion.

Why UK only?

I believe this has something to do with their customs/border agents having the same or similar training as the US agents have. I recall seeing something about being able to use my Global Entry card to enter the UK. Maybe this has something to do with trusting that the UK will do a better job than other countries at vetting travelers. This would be my guess.

Asking these Chinese to stop trading/eating live wild animals would be like asking American to ban gun ownership or native people to stop hunting and fishing...
