However, I also don't like it where the originator of the thread can just delete the entire thread by deleting his/her post.

The Mods have seemingly devised a new system where a Mod interposes himself/herself as thread starter in the consolidated thread so that this concern goes by the Boards. Nobody seems to have gotten this yet. Seems to me like a pretty simple way to solve the problem and I am surprised that it took until now to alleviate the deletion concern with this very simple solution.

I congratulate the Mods for their problem solving in this regard.

Now we need to send them the links on the threads that need to be consolidated. This should not fall 100% on me. Everyone is invited to lend a helping hand.

We assume that GG won't decide to delete his own threads one day - but he may - who knows what happens in the future especially with a prolific poster like GG. While I agree with GG's desire, the ideal situation, as EB suggested, is to have mods amalgamate threads on the same girl according to start dates so that nobody can delete the thread. Obviously, individual posters could still delete their own posts if they so desired.

Sorry but that isn't always true. Samantha may have say 75 pages but you only want to look at the last three. So which page do you start at ?

Well, in the case of Samantha, you only need to look at the first review you'll find...most if not all others are equally positive. :D

On the subject matter, I personnaly prefer browsing within a single thread than through multiple threads, frequently sparsed over several search result pages. I'm not necessarily interested in the last reviews but in those made by posters I can trust.

I'm following the official MERB posting rules, always posting my reviews in the main review thread and only starting a new one when necessary. I won't go to war against those who don't follow these rules, it's their business, but if the Mods are going to consolidate the threads anyway, why bother?

different rules for different posters?

rare_86 got slammed by Mod6 today for starting a new thread...

Yet, some "senior" posters (counting the number of posts not necessarily the number of escort encounters "under their belt") are allowed this as a matter of course.

Something smells.

I have to agree with you Special K. I find a sytem of individual review threads and using the search feature much easier than one giant thread stretching over a few years. With individual reviews there is no struggle to find where the beginning of a recent review is. It is also much easier to find reviews by reviewers that you trust without wading through the opinions that you don't value.

I personnaly agree with Equanimity and Special K. It's easier to find information when reviews are posted in new threads.

First, you can be sure that the first post of a thread contains the review, and that the following posts will be comments related to that post.

Also, when doing a search, the thread titles provide a quick overview of the situation, which you can't get when all the posts are in the same thread. On the search page, you can easily get the general feeling when all threads feature a thumbs up and large smiles icons, or see that there are mixed impressions and negative experiences reported.

Getting to the last unread post doesn't help much. It's perfect when I'm getting my daily update of the Merb's sitcom, but it's not helpful when I'm actually searching for reviews about a specific lady. Most of the time, the useful information is in posts I already read anyway.

My suggestion would be to post our reviews in new threads with the SP's and agency's name in the title and use an icon to illustrate the general impression of the meeting. When searching for information, a quick search using the SP's and agency's name gives the overall picture and all the reviews are only a click away.

My two cents.

I was originally indifferent to this issue but I've just developed an opinion on it.

I was searching for an old review I had written wanting to compare a recent experience with the old one. Having looked everywhere, searching every possible term I could think of, I still have nothing. It is not to be found anywhere - not even in the archives!

The only thing I can conclude is that the thread was deleted.

Now, why someone would delete a whole Strip Club thread I don't understand. That particular post of mine therein thread was memorable to me and, IMHO, eloquent. Too bad it's gone.

It would be useful if Mods could simply have Poster #2 become the started of the thread as default and would not have to worry about re-instating threads...

I have now learned my lesson and will save my reviews henceforth.

This was done for the Cleo's thread recently. I can think of a few people here who would have had a heart attack if belikemike decided to delete that thread.
I didn't see it happen, but I can say I would have been quite alarmed myself! Glad to see though that merbadmin has created a first post in the Cleo's thread stating:

So that's settled, but I guess I should contact them about 'my' thread... who know how long ago it was deleted...

Many good suggestions have been made concerning thread deletions, the consolidation of some threads...Something that had always puzzled me though is why there is so much resistance to change on MERB?
Older people just aren't that good with technology :p
