I seem to be hitting a disclaimer on terb and merb before getting onto the site and I wonder what people think of them. I always get a kick out of the presumed a-- covering disclaimers purport to provide, but wonder how well disclaimers really work.

When I first read the one for this board (posted by a well known prankster on another board) I thought it was a joke (deliberate) but I think they are trying to be serious... in the end it is a joke (unintended) ... it's hilarious.... it's about the most amateurish disclaimer I've ever seen... my guess is that it was drafted by a bunch of guys sitting around and tossing out ideas... a camel is a horse drafted by a committee.

And what about the disclaimer on Girls on Fire's webpage....official capacity and media are mentioned. Good to see an agency thinking outside the box;).

So how will the moderators resolve a conflict between the "disclaimer" and the "user guidelines?

Here's a portion of the disclaimer:

"This site is for entertainment purposes. ... Everything contained here is intended to be fiction and is for your entertainment and amusement only."

The following is from the list of "forbidden activities".

"vii) Posting bullshit on the board, making useless comments, and/or misleading people."

So, are reviews to be "fictitious" (i.e. bullshit) as suggested in the disclaimer, or non-bullshit as required by the user guidelines?

You're a smart cookie. ;)
