Techman,

The PMs previously automatically appeared and you clicked on one button to retrieve them. Now you must click on "private messages", then click the specific PM to retrieve. Two clicks rather than one is progress? I call it regression. We only have 24 hours in a day and they cannot be used up with unnecessaly clicks to get information.
lol..sorry about that but technically this version of VB is more advanced - even in the usability sense. A few more clicks in some areas but less clicks in others.

...having to log in each time I visit even when I click on the "remember me" button. Hopefully that can be changed.
it only looks like you have to, but as soon as i click on anything it shows me as logged in w/ the following greeting... 'welcome, johnmbot. don't be such a prick today.'

Beav, why don`t you just bookmark the page that goes directly to your pm box...https://merb.cc/vbulletin//private.php
But like I said, I just don`t get what all the fuss is about.

Because I want it to be like it was so that when I clicked on my bookmark and it went right to new posts, and simultaneously it also told me whether I had any PMs in my box and how many in the upper right hand corner of the page.

I don`t know V bulltetin technology but I do know that 2 clicks is more than 1. It`s just an unnecessary click as compared to what I had and I don`t like it.

On the other hand, one click rather than 2 for Mark Forums read. Everything should be one click. I don`t need to work for my info, MERB and people like you should do it for me Techman. I am not an IT guy!

I posted on this earlier and it looks like I'm not alone: I don't have the time/date of each reply. I can get them if I switch to "hybrid" or "threaded," but not in the linear (traditional) format. I gather that some/many/most/almosteveryone does have the time/date, and it sounds like people are trying to play with cookies, etc. As I rely on the date/time when researching, I'd like to figure this out. Any help? Is it a settings issue or a cookies issue or an old computer issue?

It still does that, EB. But instead of having 'private messages' in a box on the right, now you have 'notifications' at the top of the screen that shows you the number of new messages if there are any. And if you would take the time to go into your control panel, Forum Settings, and put a check mark next to 'Show New Private Message Notification Pop-up', every time you get a new pm you will also get a pop-up on your screen to notify you. The pop-up will also be there if you have a new message when you log in.

If you could give me some details about your setup...browser type, operating system, etc...I might be able to do some tests on my end. Right now I'm viewing in linear mode and have no problems seeing the time/date stamp on each post.
