I had exactly the same experience last month in Montreal. We exchanged a few nice emails, she came across as an articulate intelligent person. She always responded promptly, and we agreed on all the specifics quite quickly. And then she asked that I send her a $50 Amazon gift card as a deposit. Never happened to me before either. Once I refused, she cancelled the appointment and never replied to any of my emails after that.
She is someone favorably (although not very frequently) reviewed on this board, so I suppose she is a real person. However, I hate to say it, her behavior was quite compatible with her being, say, a scam artist.
I really hope this does not become a trend. I, for one, am not going to play along.

I have never been asked, I am not comfortable with internet transaction that I have not used before so that is the main reason I would be reluctant to do it, it is not so much a trust issue, that is with girls who have good reviews and a long history, I would not do it with an unknown off of LL or humpchies for sure.

It depends, I had a SP ask for a Dept store gift card prior to meeting. I politely said “I’ve never had anyone ask me that for a 2 hour session and my references are rock solid. I’m sorry, I’ll have to pass.” Then she emailed me back and was like “ok, no worries about the gift card lemme know where your staying and we will be set.” For a two hour session after a SP’s talked to your references, especially in a close knit community like MTL, no way would I pay deposit. My scenario was not in MTL btw.

Yup, happened to me with a couple of established high-end German escort agencies like Venus & Amorette that require deposits from first time clients. Of course these are established businesses but still generally a bad idea since money transfers can be easily traced. I would never consider it with individual escorts whose backgrounds I know nothing of.

Unfortunately I was never offered that option, it was a minimum of 500 euros. Anyway it seems much of their clientele are fine with the money transfers. Given their sky-high rates and the demise of the 500 euro notes, it must be a real chore to count out all those 100 euro notes

@breb Nah. It's way easier for me the client to cancel for any reason I want just because. Not as easy for some touring broad to make up the difference when people ghost. Im positive it is rare at best that sp on them merb.terb.wtv sites will ghost with deposit in toe. This is the internet age and the escorts not posting at 3am on random announce sites have reputations and other shit, like first world pride, to not snatch and e_grab.

That may be true. However, in my case it was she who cancelled on me. And she is not a touring broad, she is a local.
Actually not true, both the clinic where my family doctor is and at my dentist, there are signs that if you cancel under 24 hours they may have a cancellation charge that has to be payed at your next appointment.
I would not pay a deposit either, but if I cancel under 24 hours I will pay them the whole amount of the booking, their time is just as valuable as anyone else’s.
My word is worth more than a couple of hundred dollars and it is still not going to put me in a different tax bracket.
Shit happens. But when I make a commitment I tend to honor it or cancel well in advance. In all my years in Montreal I had to cancel one appointment same day. And I have to say, I have had excellent service from the agencies. In the rare event there is a cancellation the agencies give me as much notice as possible and have an alternative plan. I have had a great time with indies when they actually showed up. I have had over a dozen girls cancel on me. During my recent Toronto trip, I confirmed with an indy in the AM and then I took a 100$ RT Uber ride downtown to the cross streets that she directed me to for my 2nd call. I called to meet her only to have her say she was having a bad day and upset about something and had to cancel. Now two of us are having a bad day. But I get their point. I propose a unique solution: There ought to be a kiddie or a middle man sort of like escrow. Both parties put 50$ or a 100$ deposit in escrow and if one party backs out the other party gets a check in the mail. I would have a lot more checks sent my way than I would be paying.

Quite a few years ago I was checking on a well reviewed young woman on Las Vegas that required a deposit and because she was well reviewed and I wanted to see her I took a chance and sent the deposit. I dont remember how much it was I think $100 and I am not positive how I got it to her but it must have been western union because I certainly wouldnt have mailed her a check. After all, why would you pay for her to go with you and then pay for her time if you are going to Vegas anyway?
