With all the tragedy going on in the Middle East there is talk about the EU maybe sending NATO in a "peace Keepers" to buffer Isareal and Lebannon. I just like to know some feed back from everyone about this idea.

I think the west needs to tell other regions of the world to piss off and police themselves. Why should other nations continue to pump in billions of dollars to prop up societies that have problems controlling their own people? Fed up of my own dollar going to help some fucked up place when the planet would be best off without them...

I know all the tree hugging liberal folks out there will now say what a hate monger I am and I need to be open and loving but they can stick their heads in a blender as far as I am concerned. Fix our own backyard first.

Cheers

Pookie,

Just like the EU & NATO forces in Bosnia - oh, wait they aren't in Bosnia which is IN EUROPE and where ETHNIC CLEANSING has been going on for years.

Well, just like the NATO, EU & UN forces in Darfur - oh, wait they aren't in Darfur where OPEN GENOCIDE has been going on for years.

I'm sure they'll get around to talking about sending troops to the Middle East.

BigDad and HornyAnglo,

Arguably, the rest of the world would be better off if the West was truly isolationist.

Then, we would not prop up their dictators with bribes, covert actions, troops and training and military hardware. Not only do they not enjoy the freedoms we take for granted, but we exploit their resources while the majority live in poverty.

Global warning is hardly taken seriously in Canada, but the temperature increases due to the oil we burn here might well be the cause of arable land in the tropics being turned into deserts and extreme weather patterns occuring more often i.e. hurricanes and tsunamis.

So I suppose it's the western countries common mans fault that everything is going wrong in some part of the planet?
I'm sorry but I as well as most people here don't have to feel guilty for what's going on in the ME,tsunami or not.

Sorry but I ain't gonna feel bad driving by myself up Decarie tomorrow to work thinking that I am making the deserts bigger in these third world countries. On the contrary I just may idle the car a few more minutes beforehand....

Please count how much money has been contributed to these poor nations which could have been used to irrigate their land, deveop resources, and educate their people so THEY can learn to be self sufficient. Where are those hundreds of billions of dollars gone? Let the people there take care of their own country and rise up against their dictators and terrorist groups first and foremost. In the interim if they piss off the west then I fully support appropriate actions against them... Shit there's 6+ billion people on the planet which is about 4 billion more than there should be anyways....

Horny anglo,

Man I like your direct ''no frills'' aproach.;)
No politically correct bs with you!
I don't feel guilty either. It seems that wathever is tried to instore peace,it never works.
And it's always somebody else's fault but theirs.
How about blaming dictators and terrorist groups for a change?

Cosmo and HornyAnglo,

I neither wrote nor suggested that you nor any other common men should feel guilty. I doubt that you are in charge of the foreign policy of the US and conduct it in the interest of the contributors to your campaigns, among them the oil companies and arms merchants, rather than the common people.

The dictators, often installed and supported by the West (e.g. Saddam Hussein), have weapons, surveillance equipment and soldiers so rising up against them is usually futile and can be fatal.

Of course, poor countries make lots of mistakes without our assistance.

I am hardly the one to defend terrorists as some of my relatives were killed by them. However, why is someone who pushes a button killing hundreds from the security of a plane flying at 60000 feet a respected soldier and a suicide bomber sub-human?

Anon,

Thanks for precisions,I feel relieve!
I don't consider someone who bombs civil area a hero.I think though that is intentions might differ than those of a terrorist.
Soldier are told what to do.Terrorist aim specifically at innocent people for goofy beliefs,ie religion.
I'm no expert and I wish we wouldn't have this kind of discussion about mass murdering, but alas....
I respect your pov.

Targeting the innocent

Anon,

Today it was reported that a precision bomb dropped on a home in south Lebanon killed a 3 year old girl. Unfortunately she was nearby when family members launched a rocket into Israel to kill Jews and Israel responded.

The difference, as Cosmo said, is their intentions. Terrorists target the innocent civilians in Israel. Israel targets the cowardly terrorists who fire rockets from civilian areas and hide behind innocent children.

I now return to the much more enjoyable, Montreal trip planning...

Solutions?

Israels' solution was to pull out of Lebanon in the year 2000 as part of an agreement that Hezbollah would be disarmed. There had been no hostilities between Lebanon or Hezbollah and Israel since then. That changed when Hezbollah crossed into Israel and kidnapped 2 soldiers after killing 8.

The "simple" solution would be that Hezbollah & Hamas return their hostages and stop launching missiles into Israeli cities. The antagonists' solution is for Israel to cease to exist. Which is more likely?

Gotta go pack for Montreal... woohoo!:D

answer the questions.

I think you all are side stepping the questions. Should the EU take over and be the new world's police in the ME. I understand there are many innocents people being kill. Lets find a solution to this problem. My question is if and when or if even EU decides to play the World's police will this solve this issue ???

Intead of dropping leaflets, airplanes should drop boxes of extra large condoms relabeled as "medium" all over the Middle East. Feeling shortchanged by the manhood of Arab men (a floating dick in a "medium" condom being worth a thousand words), Arab women would refuse to have sex with them. Even Kalishnikov bearing men would start doubting their own manhood, would become depressed, and would stop fighting. Middle East problem solved. :)

P.S. As bizarre as the above sounds, the CIA had come up with such a plan in the 50's during the Cold War with regards to Russia. It was never implemented. :)

Allways amazes to see how much ignorance is rampant in the world, and confirms mostly that appearances can be so deceiving, let's hope that ppl will learn someday to say/write interesting things about what they really know and uderstand themselves, with research and conviction, not just whatever is read or heard in the news, which are often misguided for purpose.
