Guys,

with the price of gas going up and forecast to be $2/L by end of 2022, I am starting to consider an EV as my next toy.

question is more for the married guys who own one. Tesla has a GPS on its vehicles, how do you deal with that when going to a SP/MP? Concerns of getting caught/questioned?

E.

Do you live in Montreal? If so, don't take the car. Simple.

I don't own an EV, but can't you use your phone for GPS instead? Buy a mount that clips on to an AC vent so you can remove it after a rendezvous.

I didn’t mean it that way. I mean if I go to a SP or MP, I could be tracked down because of the integrated GPS. My current vehicle has a gps, but I use the one on my phone and link it to my vehicle’ screen

I do not get the difference with your cell phone... tracking your move. Unless you get in the room with your car. If you think your wife is spying you, you are in trouble anyway.

Tesla can easily be tracked by owner, whereas phone… unless you link your phones and have location on, it is not tracked.

The thing with the teslaa is that you can track all your trip whether you use it's gps or not.

So that’s a problem… usually people have a certain routine or places they go to, with the hobby… locations can greatly vary. Unfortunately I am not in sales where I meet thousands of client or a delivery guy

In that case, disable the GPS before you pull out and then re-enable it after you return.

right, but as Albacor said... it'll look odd to be offline
If you're the only one in the car, why would it look odd? Unless your wife is remotely monitoring constantly and/or gets notifications when it goes offline I don't see the issue. Plus if she's remotely monitoring I feel there's other issues here.

My hobby are gardening and flowers. I often buy and order flowers on ottawa flower service here for other events like wedding of my best friend, funeral ceremony and etc. I also like to collect different kind of flower boquets. Easy to care for and seasonally appropriate? That’s why these little beauties make the perfect holiday gift. Christmas cactuses earned their name for their red blooms that pop this time of year and, as members of the succulent family, they don’t require much water to thrive.

@Eurasian what are your common excuses that explain your absence from home when hobbying? Easiest thing to do is incorporate the location in your story or park then walk/uber/ metro to the actual spot
This pretty much answers my question. Wife and I just got a model Y and she can easily see where I go. She's not one to monitor my every movement, but don't want to be caught if she just so happens to open the Tesla app and sees me in Brossard when I'm supposed to be in Mascouche...

Hobbying will become a little more complicated...

If a tesla doesn't record car humping, organize a carcall to your favorite hardware store.

I'm very fortunate to live in the heart of the city and go everywhere on my bike. Not trackable plus I will be faster than traffic 9 times out 10 (not to mention no parking hassles, rue barrées, garbage trucks, etc...)
