And where exactly are you getting your trustworthy info from?
Because you have very little to show...
We are speaking of black markets and DTOs. There is no hard statistical info on this trade, but I know that and don't cite to completely fake stats.

What I also know is that there is a very serious fentanyl crisis in BC, less so in eastern Canada. The supply is coming in to Vancouver and it's just common sense when there is excess supply it's going to find a way to push south, where it then finds distribution points throughout the continental USA.

The fentanyl epidemic is very real and is leading to a lot of overdose deaths and related crime. And it's something Trump has latched onto.

Common sens means nothing. Trump claimed "common sens" stating that DEI was responsible for the crash of an airplane last week.
Fentanyl importers in USA are American gangs and USA should clean his own house. It is easy to blame others. A better control by US of its own borders could stop the fentanyl crisis. But it is easier blaming other countries and pursuing deportation of poor people just looking for a better life. Too much stupid American are drinking trump's cheap KoolAid.

So what? If the illegal drugs are coming in through the borders unfiltered the gangs will do what they do. It's a fact that BC is a major distribution point for those exporting these drugs and they are trying to stop it from coming into the country. I don't understand why you denigrate laudable law enforcement objectives. Your preference is chaos, drug epidemics, crime and overdose? It's happening at US taxpayer expense and you don't have to pay for this mess. We do. It's got to stop.

It's a very good point. The fentanyl problem is a real problem though, and I was just giving Trump's justification. He is expecting Canada and Mexico to do more than they have, to stop the flow of illegal drugs and immigrants.
But we all know it is total bs, his agenda is somewhere else and he is dragging his entire nation in a financial war and, nobody can predict the issue but, all agree that, there cant be a winner!

I think this is all personal and simply a grudge and hatred towards Trudeau. He will never forgive Trudeau bad mouthing him behind his back.
Trump maybe good for the US but he is also an egotistical arrogant asshole who will hold a grudge forever and will definitely retaliate when he has a chance.
I see these tariffs disappearing as soon as Canada gets rid of the lib government.
Will rates go down with SP, nope it never has and it won’t now, maybe some will quit the business but there will always be new ones to take their place.
Exactly what I said. Trudope is the biggest idiot. And to add once Trump got elected, Trudope further insults Trump by saying he is a proud feminist and that Americans made a mistake to not elect a woman president. Trudope is a master at f/÷"*>ng up. He poked the bear thinking he would never return.

Like all countries, USA is responsable for controlling its border! They know they are the largest illegal drugs consumer market in the entire world, all there is to do is tightening their methods. But, Trump has only one method; blaming and pointing fingers at whoever serves his needs. Trust me, at the end of his mandate USA is more likely to be more isolated than Great!

Lol Most of the fentanyl is being produced by China and the Middle East. Did you bother to look up the facts or are repeating the lies Trump is saying? Look up the stats by USCPB. Majority if fentanyl is being smuggled by the Mexican border. The reality is fentanyl is being smuggled by US citizens for US citizens. Trump needs to stop lieing and tell everyone what he really wants.

In canada the bigger problem is illegal guns and rifles coming from USA.
We should control this and not blame USA for this.

The same for fentanyl in US. Have you heard Trump putting effort with special budget to crack down American making money with this trafic?
Of course NO because he don't care about mostly black poor people being on drugs. He just use this as a pretext to develop imperialist project 2025.

Trump is a liar and too much stupid Americans want to believe him. In his first mandate he promised a Big Beautiful Wall that Mexico would pay for. Nothing of that happened and he rose the US deficit.

Now, Trump promised to fight inflation and all he is doing is taking stupid action that will rise inflation and push interest rates up! This is a rare consensus among all economist to blame this stupid decision.

It will be bad for all economies and all sectors will suffer, even SP industry. Less money available for discretionary expenses means less money for SP. It is false and based on nothing to claim that the 1% richer are the one spending on SP and that an economic slow down will not affect on them.

Like all countries, USA is responsable for controlling its border!
As is Canada for what it allows in and out of its borders!!!!!! Do you remember the Cocaine Cowgirls thread? Where did all those drugs come from? Did you guys ever bother to ask yourselves why Australian LE with K9s caught the smugglers coming into port but the Canadians could not do the same? Is Australian LE special? How quickly you forget but international LE has not forgotten!!!!!

As posted by Captain Renault quoting local press:

"The Quebec market is saturated with drugs and local criminal groups are increasingly re-exporting their stocks to new markets such as Australia. The arrest of an Australian biker who had just held a meeting with a leader of the Montreal Hells Angels, according to foreign media, has also highlighted the links between Canadian and Australian criminals in recent days...

The involvement of Quebec groups in the export of cocaine to Australia came to light in 2016, when three Quebecers, André Tamine, Mélina Roberge and Isabelle Lagacé, were arrested by Australian police. The police discovered 95 kilograms of cocaine aboard the Sea Princess , a ship on which the Quebecers had just taken a cruise spread out practically day by day by the two women on social networks.

The export of cocaine and methamphetamine from Quebec to Australia and Europe is also being done on a smaller scale and in smaller quantities, notably by sending postal parcels, according to court documents obtained by La Presse . Australian authorities have also announced in recent years seizures of narcotics on air travellers arriving from Canada and in goods such as canola oil.

Official reports also point out that methamphetamine has been following the same path as cocaine for several years..."

Keep sticking your heads in the sands guys! Pretty soon you will look like ostriches too!

Now you are being ridiculous citing one incident blown out of proportion by the press because it would sell seeing as the girls were super hot.
You actually think the Aussies have zero drugs coming into their country .
Canada is but a minuscule issue of drugs entering the US from here. It is China and the route is through Mexico but any drugs entering any country should be stopped at the border by the country itself don’t make someone else responsible for your borders

This whole tariff shit is Trump being his arrogant egotistical asshole self and retaliating against an incompetent total idiot who was so fucking dumb to insult Trump behind his back at a summit and let it be overheard and then publicly supporting Kamala during the election campaign.
Two idiots having a personal grudge and inflicting pain on citizens on both sides of the border as a result.

You are:

1) Out of touch with reality: Your example of unsold drugs being diverted to the US is laughable at best. Even if that were true, it would account for what…..0.0005% of the total market or something equally ridiculous.

2) I am not basing my numbers on the so called mainstream media (for which I am still looking for a credible alternative, which is definitely not anything you provided)…I am basing them on the USA s own statistical analalysis of the US Border Patrol and DEA https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/stats/drug-seizure-statistics

You are literally talking out of our ass and apparently are unable to stick it out.

All you need to do to get in touch with reality is go to the City of Vancouver's website to know the extent of the issue and what has been pouring over our borders. It was time to stop the bullshit and make the federal level politicians start spending money and not relying on the locals to get the job done. Mission accomplished for Trump in making Truduea prioritize good old fashioned law and order. If he slows the traffic down 20% with these commitments it is a fucking win for the USA taxpayer. No more bullshit! Maybe when your kid does not die of an OD because of proper policing you will be thankful, until then you ought to talk to the parents of the kids who were not so fortunate.

No pain was inflicted. Trump calculated the result, as I did earlier in this thread. Anyone could have done so. You are way too caught up in Trump's often whacky and off the wall statements. I remember what my law school professor told me, although he said it in the context of a Supreme Court justice's opinion: " don't pay attention to what he says. Pay attention to what he does."

What Trump just did was score a major fucking win for the American taxpayer. A lot of you don't want to hear it but it's 100% true. This was an Aaron Judge home run. His job is to be an effective leader. And get shit DONE. Not make friends. And he just scored some huge foreign policy wins. More are coming.

While I agree with Trump on what he is doing with illegal criminal aliens, and tightening the borders his actions on DEI and tax cuts yet to come, this had nothing to do with a border problem with Canada and everything with tweaking the nose of Trudeau who he hates. Trudeau deserves every kick in the ass he gets but the Canadian people don’t.
Making enemies with neighbours is not particularly a good thing to do either and it was not overly smart.
Trumps huge ego and the fact that he is an undeniably vain and arrogant asshole doesn’t always serve his country well.

There was no kick in the ass. He wanted to extract some concessions from Canada and knew he would get them just as he got them from Mexico and Colombia. That he also caused Trudeau some anguish was what we would call an "incidental" or ancillary objective to the main purpose.

Now if Trudeau had resisted, which was never going to happen, and he went to the second level of 40% tariffs and a blackout of the Super Bowl in Canada, it might have gotten interesting for Gaby without any way to watch the Chiefs. Fortunately, Trudeau was never going to resist, however, and Gaby will be permitted to watch the Super Bowl.

I am really amused that some of you thought this was going to last more than a week. I knew it would last longer than the Tik Tok Ban but I expected it to be over in days.

Well, this was supposed to be about the possible effects of the tariffs on the rates of SPs but it has devolved into something else.

I thought I would put this here as there seems to be 30 days in the hole for both Mexico and Canada.
