Last week i discovered "District 31" and i'm hooked! The series currently has 500 episodes (since 2016) and i watched episode 61 earlier today. It's hard to take a break from watching this series since ever ending of each episode wants you to immediately watch the next one.

Another series i discovered last week was "Fugueuse", which although difficult to watch i absolutely loved. There are currently two seasons and each contains ten 1-hour episodes. I finished watching episode 20 earlier today and i must praise the producers for having aced the final episode. The season season wasn't as good (in my opinion) as the first season but the last few episodes kind of made up for my somewhat lack of interest earlier. I also must admit that the first season made me think a lot about this 'business' and opened my eyes to a lot of things that i may have ignored over the past couple of decades.

TV series produced for french tv in Quebec are often brilliantly made & produced and these two extremely popular tv series are among the best i've seen. By the way 'District 31' has 4 episodes being shown over the week and they're thirty minutes each. My mistake in watching this great series is the fact i did my usual research over the web and discovered which popular characters will end up dying over the upcoming season(s) i'm watching.

New limited series on Netflix called Queen's Gambit. A true masterpiece!
Yes this was really good.

I'm adding some:

*Shameless (you need to give it a few episodes and then it's freaking amazing)

*The Crown

*New Amsterdam

*Atypical

*Can you hear me
(aka M'entends tu, it's a quebec show, also streaming on Tele Quebec's website)

And Luis Miguel on Netflix.

Doesn't sound like much but it was gooooood. It is based on the life of a superstar Mexican singer, from exploited child star to the present. He's huge in Latin countries, sang with Frank Sinatra and dated Mariah Carey for several years.

It's crazy what has happened to him. His father is especially disgusting as a human being but a fascinating character. They say he was even worse in real life which is hard to imagine. I've never watched a show twice but I actually started watching it again as soon as I finished season 2 (season 3 coming).

(if you don't like subtitles there's also English voiceover. I went back and forth but mostly kept the original Spanish audio because the actors voices are way better in Spanish)

Searched Serpent on the Board…..

NFLIX The Serpent 2021 TV-MA has only 8 Episodes

https://www.netflix.com/title/80206099

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Serpent_(TV_series)

I set the Closed Captioning on

Alain’s girlfriend Marie is from Quebec

Ep5 Nadine goes into Alain’s Apartment
I’m saying Why Why, get out of there…

***I’M GOING HOME***

Yeah i totally binge watched The Serpent, it gets so creepy at some point. Loved it. And yup Marie being from Quebec is a bonus.

Actually i'm watching The Man in the High Castle, an Amazon Video series. While not being my all-time favorite, it has some good moments. It depicts what would be the world if the nazis won the 2nd world war, and turns into sci-fi at some point.

I found The Serpent to be terrible. Only made through 1.5 episodes. Incredibly bland cinematography, bland camerawork, and an embarrassing french accent from one of the lead actresses. Amateur hour.

Very disappointing, as I was looking forward to it. Went and started watching The Crown instead. I don't know about its accuracy, but it's a quality product. Light years better than The Serpent.

Shameless - For me this show was at its best when it centered on Fiona. I think she was the heart and soul of this series. She was the one I cared about. I lost interest in the last couple of years. And the show isn't very reflective of the actual South side of Chicago which is 93% African American.

M'entends tu - I just finished watching this on Netflix. Nice to see a series set in Montreal with people who actually speak French. I loved an older Montreal show 19-2, but unfortunately in the U.S. we got the English version where everyone in Montreal spoke English. LOL.

The Crown - Well it is a classic.

Shameless - I almost missed out on it. I had to give it a few episodes and then I was hooked. A friend of mine said he'd watched an episode and didn't really like it. I insisted he watch a few more and next time I saw him he thanked me, loved the show lol

+++SPOLIER ALERT+++
Fiona - yeah well I agree with you although I think the characters were all really fascinating and amazing. It is weird how Fiona just disappeared from the storyline all together. No guest appearances, not even for the series final episode. They should have had some updates through the family mentioning her occasionally.

Debbie got a bit on my nerves near the end of the series though. Frank. Frank, frank, frank. Wow. I didn't like the chick Lip hooked up with. Carl becoming a cop was a hilarious. The old racist guy getting paralyzed and killed by his nun caretaker : delicious. That show is really great.
+++END OF SPOILER ALERT+++

I loved Svetlana (and the thrupple) haha

Is the 3rd season of M'entends tu on Netflix already? I know it was streaming on Tele Québec's website.

Waiting impatiently for new seasons of Better Call Saul and The Crown.

Not on Netflix but I just binged watched the new season of The Handmaid's Tale. Fuck that show is BRU-TAL. But this season had a few satisfying moments. I liked it but people are bashing it on reddit lol I had to turn to reddit because there is so much to unpack and I don't know anyone else who has watched it.

Oh I know it's a thread about tv series but I recently watched The Glass Castle based on the autobiographical book by Jeannette Walls. I had absolutely loved the book when I read it several years ago. Surprisingly I also loved the movie. Woody Harrelson is fantastic playing her eccentric/mentally ill/alcoholic/free spirit father.

Anyway... Seriously... Watch Luis Miguel!!! Haha

OMG - I forgot about Svetlana. She stole every scene she was in. I missed her when see left the series. In real life, the actress that played Svetlana said that when fans of the show meet her, they are disappointed that she isn't Russian and doesn't speak with a Russian accent. She was perfect in the role and I could watch a whole show with just her.
I agree about Debbie. I liked her in the beginning, but the last few seasons she was really annoying. And it was strange that Fiona did not show up in the final season and no one even mentioned how their beloved sister (who really raised them) was doing? Odd.

No the third season of M'entends tu is not on Netflix in US yet. I want to find out how Caro is doing! As a visitor, I spend my time visiting all the wonderful delights of Montreal, so it is interesting seeing the more grittier side. I do remember passing by the bookstore that Caro works at (close to downtown). It is also nice to see that Netflix is showing more Quebec movies here in the U.S.

I searched for Luis Miguel but I could not find it on my Netflix listing. I will keep looking. Thanks for the recommendations.

Apparently the bar from M'entends tu is in Lachine. Someone who grew up in Lachine told me that it's a really seedy dive bar lol I would have assumed Hochelaga but hey.

I'm pretty sure Luis Miguel should be on Netflix US . You could always find a torrent to download. Or I found this, if you don't mind a couple pop-up ads at the beginning. If you want english subtitles, select HD instead of fast (below the video) and pick server Vidcloud (top right in the video window).

Prison Break is my favorite series of all time! I'm looking for something as good or better than this. Does it exist?

RIP to Michael K. Williams who created one of the most memorable characters (Omar) on one of the best TV shows ever (The Wire). Loved the TV series and Omar was my favorite character on the series.

Omar's Comin Yo!

I started watching The Deuce again. It's such a great show.

Highly recommended. Highly.

Also produced by David Simon (the wire) and apparently many of the same actors.

"The Deuce" tells of the germination of the sex-trade industry in the heart of New York's Times Square. It's the early 1970s, and the porn business begins a shift from organized crime-backed parlors to a legitimate, culturally accepted enterprise. A cast of barkeeps, prostitutes, pimps, police and nightlife seekers centers around twins Vincent and Frankie Martino (James Franco, in a dual role), who navigate the sex business after meeting well-connected mobster Rudy Pipilo. Their storyline, among others, merges with that of prostitute Candy, whose ambition and intelligence lead her to a more prominent role in the industry.

For action type shows like this, I'd recommend maybe 24.

Another good story show would be LOST.

le casa de papel, Witcher and Titletown High. Usually I watch tv shows 123movies free without downloading. I want to share some info about Titletown High because its fresh tv series. Its netflx tv show. Titletown High follows the nation's winningest high school football team as they tackle age-old rivalries, teenage romance and real-life drama while vying for a championship title under infamous head coach Rush Propst. I like this tvshow because I am big fan of american football.
