The old man IS amazing and 2nd season started recently
I watched episode 3 of season 2 over the weekend and it was probably the best episode in the series to date. What I would like to know is, who are these shadowy foreign mercenaries that the FBI/CIA are contracting with for air support when things get hairy on the ground????? It's really cool to know that when your agents on the ground are being fucked with by either the Taliban, Taliban spies or other terrorists, you can make a phone call and get the plane or helicopter with the guys on board shooting RPGs. But who are these guys???? Where does the CIA or FBI find them? Does someone go into the FBI or CIA and leave flyers on a message board? And what is their salary and benefits? Do they get life insurance?
Without spoiling anything, the John Lithgow character in this show seems very adept at calling in the cavalry when needed and also keeping them on standby when needed.
I am also imagining these mercenary contractor types are bored ex special ops from the USA, Canada or UK. Or do they recruit, for a show like The Old Man, fit older men who are bored with their retirement and maybe have some military background that could be put to use?
I know someone who is an ex Vietnam veteran army corp of engineers. He told me shortly after his Vietnam service ended in the 1960s, through an army buddy, he met some guys recruiting ex military personnel (who recently left military service in Vietnam) to stage an armed coup in Haiti on Papa Doc. He listened but said no as he thought it was a 100% suicide mission. They were offered money I think $50,000 or something like that.
