Well since everyone is starting best of lists, I thought I'd do this one a little differently. The movies we see in the theater aren't always the same as the version we watch on DVD at home. Or sometimes we discover a movie on DVD that we never thought of spending the money to go and see at your fave movie house. So I thought I'd start this thread to honour the favourite DVDs of the decade. They don't have to be the best movies or works of art, just your favourites.
So I'll start it off with the one I watched tonight, which gave me the idea for this thread.
Almost Famous - Director's Edition - aka Untitled: Almost Famous the Bootleg Cut- 2000
The film that made Kate Hudson a movie star and has what I feel is one of the best rock soundtracks of any movie ever made. If you grew up in the '70's or just love rock music, this movie is not to be missed. I hope that when it's finally released on Blu-ray it'll include the deleted Stairway to Heaven scene which was removed due to a rights issue. But it is included as a DVD extra without music so you can play your own copy of the song during the scene to see how it would have played in the film.
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0181875/
And I'll also select the Lord of the Ring Extended versions that greatly expand on the theatrical versions of a book that was said to be unfilmable. If you don't know the story by now, you should be ashamed of yourself!
Anyone else?
