Freedom3's trip report: thoughts on closure of thread

Mods (or Mod 11 maybe more specifically) may not like my new thread, but it`s not written out of any disrespect to them. Simply out of polite disagreement... (or maybe misunderstanding?)

Freedom3 had started an awesome thread:

containing short yet informative and to the point reviews on 17 ladies he met while in town. All the comments made in the thread`s short existence were positive. I think many others also like it a lot. Sadly, the thread was closed, Mod 11 invoking that it would make a total mess when one would be searching. I beg to disagree and this is why I am writing this.

His thread contained very clear information on the girls, which made it clear who he was talking about. No confusion possible. He uses a simple rating system, which I prefer to many people who use numbers, and this rating system is valid within itself, within its own context (I understand the A`s compared to the B`s and C`s, easy to gage his scale). POsting such short reviews with similar ratings in an individual girl`s thread would simply nullify the scale, as it is by definition a relative one and needs the juxtaposition of the evaluations.

When searching for Jessie of Eleganza for example, it is extremely easy to find the paragraph pertinent to Jessie. All of the pertinent info is contained within the first 2 posts. Comparatively, a thread such as "Escorts changing names..." is painful to navigate through when trying to find the reference to the particular girl you are looking for... But this thread remains as is... There are others like this.

I hope mods don`t break Freedom3`s threat into bits and pieces. I think this type of thread is very informative and should be allowed to continue. I compare this thread to banger`s incall reports a few years ago. These reports were little gold mines, containing gems of info. This does not mean people should be adding their own reports about particular escorts in this very thread, but certainly there should and would be place for comments and precisions.

I hope others who feel like me will add their opinion to my thread. After all, it`s our board, we get out of it what we put into it.

Last Thursday afternoon, I had the chance to spend a couple of hours in a nice restaurant with that extraordinaire reporter. He told me that he was supposed to post a review of his experience in Montreal. This is one of the best review (in scope) that was ever written on https://merb.cc.

As he is a very nice and well educated person, I`m sure that he didn`t intend to break any rules. . Rules? What am I saying? Are they such rulesimplemented now on the forums? This an escort forum containing information on escorts. Period. THis is not Vanity Fair or The New England Journal of Medecine as far as I know. In these publications there are editorial rules you must follow (to conform to the format). Unfortunately, there`s nothing we can do unless copy and paste his report on a personal file before the Mods erase it. I`m sure however that common sense will prevail because this is the trademark of this forum.
Freedom3 didn`t reply to the eventual ban of his report. I hope he will come back to Montreal and that he still enjoy our marvelous city.

Freeom3's post was one of the best posts EVER... it was a credit to the poster AND TO MERB... I was stunned to see it shut down.

I thought I was beginning to understand the peculiarities of this board (every forum has them) but I was wrong.

My guess is that the closing of the thread had nothing to do with the stated reason... my best guess is that roadblocks were imposed as a certain agency was not mentioned in the sterling post... but I just don't know.

Is there one member who doesn't want the post to stand as posted??? I recognize it isn't a democracy here and that's understandable... but if the Mod is sincere, he can run a poll for the consumers of the board (us) and see if they want the thread to be reopened despite the possible problem he identifies.

I liked Freedom3's compilation of concise reviews, as well. Honestly, longer reviews can get tedious to both read and write, so I appreciated his brevity.

I liked it when he commented that he shutters to think of who he'd be banging were it not for these women doing what they do. So funny, and so true.

I must admit that I was a bit jealous to see how many girls he banged in one trip, though. Lucky guy!

I thought freedom3's thread was well written and contained a lot of good, useful information. We should encourage threads like that instead of changing or closing them. If I did a search for a specific SP, and his thread came up along with one in a more standard form, I don't think it's that big a deal. I hope he continues posting. I really envied the free time he had.

In the past I wrote similar trip reports, not containing as many reviews, and those threads were not deleted or closed. I understand the argument that it can slightly mess up searches but there was so much good information in freedom3's thread it should have been allowed to stand. I think he has been around for a while and his reviews were credible and well written, even if I did slightly disagree with him on one particular lady, which is probably just YMMV at work.

Since the halcyon days of Banger and Breadman we usually do not get such threads posted and I believe that in this particular case the informational value exceeds the disruption to the search function on the particular escorts reviewed. This may not be true in all cases, but I believe it is in this case. The Mods should consider application of their criteria on a case-by-case basis.

I agree completely. His review is one of the most informative in years and should not be locked or tampered with by the Mods.

Interesting study...

I have to agree with Merlot and others here...just because the thread did not adhere to the prototypical "review" style, does not make the info irrelevant. A search will net the results. The author of the thread chose to present his experiences in a chronological review style written as an account or journal of his trip. I have recently learned by observation through a close friend of mine that just because we do not do things exactly the same...doesn't make either style right or wrong...just makes it our style.

I think that Mod11 is being a bit over zealous here (I PM'd him and M8 about it yesterday)... Rules are fine and have their place on this board to keep things civilized, but in this case the new set of rules don't have any real purpose. I won't repeat what was said above as I agree with most here. The thread should stay as is and reopened.

No agency, or anyone else including Fred Zed, has anything to say about what is or is not posted on MERB or any power over any moderator. If you wish to stand by this comment I expect you to show good reason for it as well as proof to back it up. Why is it that every time there is a moderator decision that some disagree with that someone has to invent a conspiracy or insinuate that mods are under the control of one agency or another? If you intend to become the new Bensonnobalia, spreading rumor and innuendo to attack the integrity of MERB and it's moderators, you will find yourself sharing his fate.

To everyone else,

I will discuss the reasons behind the closing of the thread in question with Mod 11. While MERB is not a democracy, we do listen to our membership and take their wishes into consideration when making decisions. In the past we received numerous complaints about such collective review posts, such as this one and Banger's in the past, both from members as well as agencies who felt it made finding information about specific escorts confusing and difficult. As such posts are few and far between I do see the reason for your complaints in this thread and we will take it under consideration.

If you read my post properly, you would have seen that I stated "in the past...", I did not state that we had received complaints about this particular thread. Moderator decisions are often made to preempt problems, which often is more efficient than correcting them after the fact.

If you prefer to believe the innuendo of those who have an agenda and who's loyalties lie elsewhere, you are free to follow them down the road and post where facts and truth are irrelevant.
