If you keep the gas in their tanks

Don't you get it? The only way to "keep gas in their tanks" is to buy less gas in total. If you keep buying the same amount of gas per month but just spread it out in $5 chunks, you're only wasting your time.

If only I knew...
Kepler, you're right but some can't understand this.
Peoples are bitching but, look around and see ho many SUV, trucks and big cars are around but only carry 1 person and no useful load? How many 4X4 vehicles are on the road? How many of these will actually never even see a dirt road? It's about status: look what I'm driving! My car is bigger so I'm better!

Sad...

I have worked in the petroleum industry. The best way to save on gas is to use the same methods the oil companies use to save. At this time oil is at $90 a barrel, so the oil companies are buying a little as they can. They will try to slow consumer demand by raising prices at the pumps. Another factor is how much gas is in the tanks at your local gas station. If an oil company has a gas station with full tanks at one location, they will increase prices to sell the gas before the next delivery. If they have a gas station a few blocks away with half full tanks they will increase prices to slow consumption. This is done by lowering or increasing prices by just two or three cents a liter.
Always buy your gas early in the week, the gas companies use to keep prices low Monday to Wednesday when supply was cheap but now the prices are only low on Monday and are raised on Tuesday because prices are high and they want to not buy new expensive oil and use the cheap oil at the storage tanks they bought at a lower price.

WHAT ???? This morning (a Monday) I paid $1.20 per liter so you mean by end of the week it will be higher ? OMG Are we going back to $1.50 as 2 years ago ? or $1.80 by Christmas ... I am stopping all purchases of Christmas gifts at this time as I may not have money left to may my next Petro-Canada statement, and will limit my hobby to strip bar dance on stage...

You can always pay the stripper to get out and push instead of doing that lap dance.....LOL. It's going to be a real YMMV issue.
