Interesting Point

I don't see anything that limits the question to a geographical area. So limiting it to the Montreal Metro and defining it only to cash (no other trade in kind) for sex. Then sifting out the Gold Diggers, Law Firms, Secretary/Assistant arrangements, and "Sugar Daddy" arrangements, I would estimate 1 in 4 (i.e. 25%).

Note: I didn't say they made a career out of it. I just said my estimate one in four had traded sex for money once in their lives.

2nd Note: Does "the biz" take into account girls giving bj's under the stairs or in the broom closet at school? i.e. is a bj being in the biz or do we accept the "Slick Willie" definition of sex?

You raise an interesting point. First I will make the assumption that you have not traveled to the various regions of Quebec. Especially those beyond a two hour radius of Montreal, small towns, etc. Totally different situation.

In these areas, fewer men available, the 40 plus crowd, single women, divorcees, etc are on the prowl and quite willing to take on a second career. Look at the cougar element that is often reviewed when there are reviews from these communities. On the other hand 10 or 20 in a community of 100,000
like Sherbrooke, does not change the % significantly.

Perhaps with an all encompassing definition the numbers will be in the 25% range but I do have serious reservatioms on a province wide level.. Conversely at that level the commodity might become heavily devalued - a conclusion that may be supported by the continued comments about fewer SPs, etc and the relative low prices compared to the USA.

Look, I underlined estimate. How about we agree on "shot in the dark" thought. I did temper it with once in a life and bj defined as sex. Move on with debating someone else. I've had more than a few experiences where a girl tried in once "one a lark". I believe more than a few want that one memory of someone paying them. I actually had a college student once who said she was trying it "as research" and another who was a cast member at Uniiversal who did in once after getting drunk one night....Shit happens.....LOL

I would say that the percentage of females being SP's ever during their lifetime, even if 1 day, is about 5 percent. 5 percent of the females in Montreal would be 90,000 (1.8 million times 0.05).

I guess another question would be if the percentage of young women, 18-30 doing at present increase over the last 10, 20, 30, 50, and 70 years? I say probably.

Interesting comment.
Eastender, are you saying there are more women than men in QC province (outside mtl)? And there are more men than women in Mtl?
I thought in general there are more men than women in small towns(young women leave for the big cities).
Are there demographic differences in gender, age between Mtl island and its suburbs, and the rest of QC? Would love to hear thoughts on that.

Most of the small towns in Quebec are old industrial towns with declining local industries hence the men tend to leave for related labour type jobs in Montreal, other parts of Quebec and various parts of Canada for 3-6 month or longer stretches. The women in those areas tend to the non industrial type jobs so they stay.

I'll provide a link to Montreal demographics:

I was discussing this with a friend just a couple of weeks ago..
You have some interesting friends.
Here's the math:
There are about 1,600,000 people in Montreal, 800,000 of them female.
Of these 800,000, approximately 100,000 of them are between the ages of 20-30.

Dont lose the day job

If the mean career expectancy of a sexworker is six months (and remember some work just a few days, some work for years) and there are 2,500 sex workers in Montreal at any given time, that means that 50,000 girls work in the sex industry over a 10 year period. If half of them are not from Montreal originally, that reduces the number to 25,000.

If my math is correct, and all of my numbers in the first paragraph are approximate, while those in the second are guesses, the answer to your question would be 25%.

Going just a bit farther now, if you assume that 75% of the female population is not attractive enough to work in the sex industry, what you're left with is 100% of all attractive females in Montreal are, at one time or another, sex workers.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste! Is is nice to get an insite, into your perception of all woman,if they are attractive they must have been a whore at 1 time ,and if they are ugly, they dont need to be included in my calculation.

Note that there is the remote possibility that some of my numbers or logic might be off, however slightly.
Maybe you could fly over to japan to help caluclate how bad the radiation problem really is :)

Province or nationwide less than 3/10th of 1% or 3 in a 1,000.

For 3,6 million females in Québec (all ages) 10,800.

I think it's getting big, a few guys I know found out from there kids that in school some girls offered bj's and hj's in the washrooms, how many end up being sp's who knows, I didn't have that in school when I was there, guess the girls want there ipods and nice clothes.

Also ads on the net, there have been many girls that found out how easy it is to make some money just by giving a guy a hj or bj or more and I know of a few girls that have done this, they said just once or twice, only when they had no other choice... One actually has kept it going, she only has 2 client and thats it, well thats what she told me...

I also notice a very large growth in the mp market, most are the basic hj but many do offer other options.

With the news reports of cl and facebook hookers, girls that had no clue found out pretty fast, many acted on it, many have posted ads on sites just to see how many emails they got, and others have the thought in the back of there mind, especially when the bills keep coming in and collection agency keeps calling... Oh and you also have the party girls but they have always been in and out of the game.

Tech is making it very simple for an average girl to do this once or 1000 times and keeping it as her little secret, it's hard to tell who has done it, who will do it, you will never really no, just another little secret she will keep to herself.

If you recall, I gave mathematical evidence a few weeks ago, determining that, in fact, nearly all of Montreal's attractive females are, at one time or another, sex workers. What about the boys? How many men are hobbyists? Let me give you some anecdotal evidence.

I was out on an outing with a group last week, a group I've been involved with for the last year or so. One of the guys who joins us occasionally is a single man of about my age and, like myself, he dates occasionally and is possessed of a reasonably robust libido. At one point during the outing, curious and suspecting that he might be one of us, I turned the subject of our conversation to pay for play and asked him if he knew that Montreal is North America's P4P epicenter. He confessed that he is well aware and that he indeed, as I suspected, is a hobbyist. Not long after, we exchanged merb handles and I introduced him, by handle, to the other merbist in our midst. That was all the proof I needed. As we know, as proven above, that all the attractive women in Montreal are, at one time or another, sex workers we also know have solid evidence that all of the men in Montreal are either:
•hobbyists
•gay
•in a committed relationship
•committed to St. Ignatius' Home for the Bewildered
•some or all of the above

You forgot:under observation by a doctor for mental problems:)

Taking into account ladies 95 years old to girls 18 years old, what percentage of the population in your opinion have or now is participated in the biz? I suspect the percentage has risen dramatically in the last 10 years, but there must be a few 95 year old ex-SPs around.
I woulf put the estimate at 2% or 1 in 50.

I wonder what the number of active Sp's are in every province at any given time...I am almost sure that Quebec would win...They dont need to be from here just be activly working here.

Actually you formulated an opinion ..Evidence is something which can be used in a court of law.Your opinion is just that, something you formulated with years of experiance in your life experiance.
Again you have an interesting circle of people you hang with.I wonder if you have a daughter, mother, sister grandmother in your presance, if you would sit with them and tell them -well 4 of you, so my deductions tell me , 2 of you must be whores ,at 1 time in your life.

There are several problems with your post; let me enumerate them.
1. How do you know the circle of people I hang with? My sense is that you're making assumptions about thing of which you have no knowledge.
2. Neither of my daughters, nor my mother or grandmother live in Montreal and I have no sisters. As such, they do not fit the demographic of my study. Clearly, you know more about my circle of friends than you do about my family. Or so you claim.
3. You take my posts far, far too seriously.
4. You need to learn to spell.

1 I dont need to know your circle of friends, if you and they believe any woman ,if attractive had to be a sex worker at 1 time in their life if they live in montreal.

2.So its only woman in montreal who are in your formula so in other words all attractive woman in montreal are whores but where your family live they are all church going members?

3 I dont take anything seriously you write.
4 I'll go take spelling lessions if you go seek medical help

This thread was started tongue-in-cheek, a kind of "fun with numbers" thing. I also read a dichotomy in your post(s): if you are a monger, why do you attach such a stigma to being a sex worker?
2.So its only woman in montreal who are in your formula so in other words all attractive woman in montreal are whores but where your family live they are all church going members?
2nd time at least in this thread you are using the word "whore"... Reinforces my previous point that you think less of sex workers than other women. Shame on you. Many sex workers I know could teach many "other women" I know lessons in humanity. I for one, am glad they are there. In a city like Montreal, I would go nuts looking at all these babes if I couldn't have the occasional sample .
I dont take anything seriously you write.
Your constant and vehement replies belie this.
4 I'll go take spelling lessions if you go seek medical help
You can pass on the spelling "lessions" if you wish. Go to "John School", though :p.

Your handle name quite suits you.Someone should dill a few holes in you and let the sap run out
I have a discussion with your fellow crusader and you have to jump in with the same fury you 2 did with the escort boycott.Never mind single woman had to suffer at your hands but the end result is all that matters. You should thank god each day there is escorts or your right had would be worn out by now.
