That's called TSA Precheck

Not the case right now. I have been flying in the US a bit and even the precheck lines are telling me to take off my shoes, laptop, jacket. Not back to normal yet.
FWIW I haven't experience any differences in Pre at all recently or anytime this year vs. pre-2020. Only time laptop/jacket/liquid comes out is if Pre lane is outside operating hours.

Question for fellow NEXUS card holders. If you change your job are you required to notify US and Canadian border officials or does nobody really do this? I remember when I first got my NEXUS card the border agent mentioned something about this.

Nexus holder for 7 years. Been through changes in several jobs and never notified Nexus. I periodically get asked about my job at the border and give them a very generic job description. The question on job usually occurs at airports rather than land crossings. It has never been an issue nor had to show proof of employment.

I assume the questioning has been on the way back into the US?

Upon entry to Canada with NEXUS, you usually do everything at the kiosk. I guess some people do get pulled aside for questioning, but I'm not even sure how it would happen.
