Hello everyone, I'm headed to Montreal in August and I need to find a hotel downtown Montreal that has internet and parking available.
Preferably under $150 a night and must be girl-friendly.

Any help is appreciated :)

Esco, are you the same Esco on TERB?

I would try Priceline to get a good deal. My understanding is that you can usually get the Hyatt for a good rate.

Failing that, I would recommend for lowest rates the Clarion Suites or Quality Hotel on du Parc. You might get the Sheraton or the Marriott for a little more.

I have found that most hotels have Internet, more so than other Canadian cities which I've been to.

Esco,

On Priceline the 4 stars these days are the Hilton Bonaventure (recently going in the $110-$115 range), the Omni and the Hotel Intercontinental. I have stayed at all three and I like the Omni best, got it for $107 in late May. Stayed at Hotel Intercontinetal for $120 during Jazz festival. I was not crazy about the Hotel Intercontinental which is not as well located as the Omni.

The Priceline 3 stars are the Hyatt, the Delta, the Novotel and the Holiday Inn Select. I have stayed at all and the Hyatt and Delta are the best in this category. 3 stars can be had in the $75-$85 range at this time. All prices are US$ of course, and prices are those realized through the bidding rather than quote method.

I think Delta and Novotel charge for the internet connection.

That is a deal breaker for me.

Does the Hyatt have free internet connection?

The most expensive I've ever been charged for Internet is $16 for 24 hrs at the Toronto Sheraton. That's certainly not a deal breaker for me, IMHO.

Using the Toronto Sheraton example, I got that room for $65 from PL. The regular rate for that room would have been $150+. So paying an extra $16 per day for internet access is really small potatoes as far as I'm concerned.

And besides, you pay extra for Internet regardless of whether or not you use Priceline.

OR ... you could always go to one of the many Internet cafes which Montreal has.

BTW I forgot to mention, with internet service I mean an actual computer in the room, I dont mean a phone connection in the wall

2 years ago I saw an ad that the Holiday Inn in Dayton Ohio had internet access.
When I got there I found out that they simply meant the phone jack in the room had dial up access.

BYOC meant bring your own computer :(

I'm making a trip to Montreal next week, and managed to get the Hyatt for an amazing 66$ US a night through Priceline. I don't think any hotel would have a computer in a hotel room, seems too open to abuse. What would the computer be used for? Were you planning to look at escort sites from the hotel? If you really must use a comp there's always an internet cafe.

What I did to prepare for my trip is surf on my comp for the escort sites I plan on using, and saved their address and pertinent info on my cell. Most sites are unusable, so I made a note of exactly who I would want to book, and pricing, then added the number to contacts. Some sites like Eleganza's site is useable, and I can see the ladies pictures on my cell so I can know what I want. Not perfect, but this is the best option for someone without a laptop.

The Hilton in Vancouver (Burnaby) has a keyboard attached to the TV which has high-speed internet. Thats what I'm looking for.

I only have a desktop at home and no laptop

Esco,

Let me update my prior post in this thread to note that the Priceline 3 stars have dropped in price and can now be had in the $50-$65(USD) range depending on length of stay and the dates. In addition, Le Centre Sheraton is now accepting 3 star bids on Priceline.

Delta charged me for Internet which I did not expect since I was given the impression it was included in the rate. $13.95/day but they seemed to only charge me for 1/2 the days I used it.

They won't charge you if you got one of the upgraded rooms (Premiere or Signature Club) for around $40-60 extra. High speed internet is complimentary with these rooms (floors 21+).

The Delta also offers an upgrade of $15 a night, which I accepted recently, so my room was $80 instead of the $65 I got it for on Priceline. In exchange for this upgrade, I got a MUCH bigger room and a balcony. I believe, although I am not certain, that free internet access was also included.

Anyone staying at the Delta should inquire about their upgrade packages.

I also got parking with unlimited in/out privileges for $18/night plus tax.

BTW, the food at this hotel sucks. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was the worst pizza I have had since I had cafeteria pizza back in college. That pizza was borderline inedible. The pepperoni had no taste and they used a very poor quality mozzerella cheese. Also, the sauce was too sweet and didn't taste right. Finally, as if that were not enough, the crust was undercooked and doughy. It was awful!

I hope you did not just pay for it and walk away. I always send food back if it is that bad. I once got a free $45 glass of port in a restaurant in Boston; I complained to the waiter that the chef's pride and joy Alsatian specialty was tasteless. He told me that the chef would get really mad if he heard that (the chef was circulating through the resto), so to keep me quiet he gave me a glass of the 30 year-old port (long story - I had tasted it before and loved it).

Chef,

You raise an interesting point. I probably should have sent that pizza back. It was gross! However my personality is such that I usually don't complain in restaurants or send food back. My attitude is if I don't like your food, I simply won't give you any further business, and I chalk it up to lessons learned.

I have a cousin who has a far different philosophy. She is extremely finicky, even moreso than the notorious Stripper Lover, and sends food back frequently. In fact, one time I recall going to a restaurant with her and she did not like the cleanliness level of the restaurant. When the waiter came with the menus, she lectured the waiter about the appearance of the restaurant, handed him back the menus, and then said to me, "let's go."

The truth is I ate at the hotel only because the weather sucked that particular evening. I knew that the pizza was not exactly going to challenge anything I have had in New York City or at the legendary pizza establishments in New Haven, but I didn't think it would suck that badly.

Your cousin is my kind of person. She would have really complained at a restaurant at the Chicago O'Hare Hilton - the wall next to where we were seated was covered with what looked like fruit flies. We ended up eating there as one lady in the group (we were there on business) did not want to eat at the upscale steakhouse in the hotel because the waitresses were dressed in Playboy Bunny outfits.

It was my impression I was in a "premiere" room but nowhere near the 21+ floors. I believe the 21+ floors are "signature"-only. I had floor-to ceiling windows, high ceilings, a full work desk, king-size bed, balcony.

Which of the two Deltas are you referring to? The one on University (Delta Centre-Ville) or the one on Kennedy (Delta Mtl)? I was referring to the one on President Kennedy.
