Now, how did she get tru the locked front door without me getting a call? I don't know! ;)

May be her last call was in the same hotel, and she did not even have to pass thru the lobby again?

Got complains on those:

Cantlies on Sherbrooke!
Waiting for elevators seems a regular issue in this Hotel...

Best Western on Drummond!
Need to put on the hot water at lease 5 minutes before taking a shower to get some!

Sheraton Four Points on Sherbrooke!
The staff ask the SP's in wich room they are going!

Chateau Champlain, in regards of the high expectations one may have towards such Hotel, was disappointing to me: the employees seem not to be interested or playing attention, the service was generally average and the general setup (decoration, atmosphere) was not at the height of a hotel of 4-5 stars. Same appreciation applied (except for the decoration) to Intercontinental (I used to like this one, but they are kind of left out these days). The W, The Nelligan, the St James and the Vogue are my current favs.

Hotels i'm not crazy about:

Marriott Chateau Champlain: i've always been disappointed about this place & wondered what the fuss was about. Rooms i've stayed in were rather ordinary.

Fairmont Queen Elizabeth: Same reasons i've mentionned above & also pricier than other hotels in its genre.

Hilton Bonaventure: The Maze. Getting to your room feels like it takes forever & the rooms are ancient, dark & very stuffy. I must be allergic to something in those rooms. My eyes & nose start burning minutes after i've been in my room & the beds are quite uncomfortable. Only good part is the pool deck during the summer. I get bummed out everything i get it on PL.

Hotel Inter-Continental: I feel the same way about this hotel as i feel in regards to the Chateau Champlain & QE. I never could figure out what the big deal about this place was & i hope never to get it again on PL.

Hotel formerly known as Crown Plaza: I don't know under what name this hotel is known as right now. It's on Sherbrooke & near St-Denis. I used to call it The Dungeon & always felt it was basically a dump & it gave the Crown Plaza chain a bad name. What do they say again? There's a black sheep in every family? Ditto.

Holiday Inn Select (on Viger): I dont' know what it really is, but something about this hotel just depresses the hell out of me. I once got it on PL & i preferred to cut my loses and didn't even bother to check in & i booked somewhere else. I hate it!

I stayed at Fairmont Queen Elizabeth last year, room was tiny. Breakfast was pretty decent though and it has access to the Metro underground.
Crowne Plaza is now called Doubletree and its been slammed for its poor location amongst other things.
I'd like to try the Sofitel but its too expensive when compared to other 4 and 5 star places.

I've stayed at the Sofitel many times. It used to have a bad rep during winter time since the heating system was screwed up and people were freezing. Maybe it was due to the fact that the building is totally made out of glass. Very nice rooms and the beds are great, but most of the rooms are quite small, including the bathrooms. I was told by some sps that the suites are great, though. However, i don't travel on a business expense account and i won't pay an arm-and-a-leg just for a hotel room. For some reason, i've always found this place to have a very cold atmosphere.....rooms are cold, lobby is cold, restaurant is cold. For the price it now costs to stay there and for the simple fact its no longer available on PL and HW, i'd avoid it if i were you.....much better options elsewhere.

Le Meridien Versailles

I recently stayed at Le Meridien Versailles (Sherbrooke & St. Mathieu), in a room on an Executive Floor (elevator key access required for the 3 Executive Floors). I was not impressed. The building is old and there are only 2 elevators (only 14 floors though). The room was small, with a modern but tiny bathroom. The decor was brown and depressing, and the heating system was loud. The bed was okay.

The restaurant Bronte is attached to the hotel, so I checked out the dinner menu. Exactly the kind of stuff I like (French), but I was not in the mood to pay those prices, so I passed. I did have breakfast there the next morning as it was included in the Starwood cash plus points scheme I used to stay there. It was continental breakfast (American was a $4 charge), and was quite nice, with smoked salmon and sliced deli meats in addition to the usual continental fare.
