Nice to see...

that sex is not the only thing driving everyone. I'm sure others feel the way you do. And thanks for bringing that perspective forward. There is too much suffering around us. And it isn't limited to a natural disaster such as the one brought on by Katrina.

Most of us are too absorbed in our little lives (I'm speaking in general terms) to care what goes on around us. What can we do, we ask? That's just the way it is. Well, I'm sure he or she who is well informed and passionate enough can do alot. It's incredible what we can change as human beings.

If we can destroy this earth... we can just as easily save it. And it goes beyond money.

Hey dudmtl,

I can appreciate your sentiments about this disaster. I do believe that until it happens to someone you know (family, friend, coworker,...), it doesn't reach to the same level. Alot of people don't pay enough attention to what's going on in the world. People also forget really fast. As an example, do people still remember the tsunami; how long ago was it, how many people died, what's going on there now ? It makes you think !!!

I know it's hard to believe but I'm telling everybody that you can make a difference in this world. Don't look to the big things like world peace (unless your in a position to do so) or world hunger, but rather to your everyday life. Help a neighbor, help someone in difficulty, play with a child, go see your family, respect others, lead by example. If enough of us do this, it starts a trend and others will follow. Maybe then our world leaders will understand.

You're not the only one. I think many of us are upset by this and trying to figure out what we can do. I've been glued to the TV since last Sunday and TIVOing it (for God sake). I've donated money and had to stop myself from driving down there to help because I'm thinking I would only get in the way. I can't think of anything else to do but rant about the poor response of our government, which is lame I know but I would do something if I just knew what to do. Sex can come later. Hang in there.

This angered me to the point of nearly quitting, but now fuels me forward to take a leadership position in the company if no one else will.

Go for it. You sound as though you have the caring and passion necessary to make a difference. Hey, but get some rest and take care of yourself as well. Energy is precious.
