He is good with the grinders . But with our stars he can't even talk to them (Gainey benching kovalev).

Is there really tension in that locker room caused buy Koivu and kovalev?

It's the coaches job to take care of that .

Get rid of Carbo?

Too bad Gainey and Carbo are such close friends, because in any other team the coach would of been long gone!!

Gainey is more the problem than Carbo is. After all, Boring Bob is the one that didn't make a single trade on trade deadline day. He said that he was comfortable with the team he already had. Delusional!

Well the question is now settled. Carbo has been fired. Now the question is this...who will replace him? Probably Gainey in the short term but in the long term?

I think the organization in general has communication problems from the GM down to the coach. From players who have left the team saying that they had no communication with Carbo to Gainey having to be the one to talk to Kovy there are serious problems there.

Nothing was achieved in the last two seasons where trades are concerned and that is not the fault of the coach. There is a lack of communication with the players and that is the fault of the coach. I'm sure the constant line juggling by Carbo didn't help matters either and they really have to settle things down where the goalies are concerned because they've been playing musical goalies over the last two seasons. I fail to see how you can build a cohesive team when everything is always in a state of flux.

I think there is a lot of blame to go around and as usual the coach ends up paying the price.

i was thinking Pat Quinn before i even read that,,,,, he would be a great choice for Le Canadien......(i voted for you to) :D

How's Quinn's French? A coach in Montreal must be able to converse with the press in French. While this may seem unimportant in actually coaching the team, it is none the less a requirement here in Montreal. If not I would suggest bringing up the coach from Hamilton. He's coached many of the players on the team and next year there will be even more who will have graduated up to the Habs. But unless he takes a crash course in French, I don't see this as a real possibility.

Who cares if he speaks French? see thats the problem with Le Canadiens! its about W I N N I N G!!!!! not what rolls off a persons tounge..... Le Canadiens have lost sight about whats the most important thing in ANY Sport, and thats winning championships at ALL costs....i repeat at ALL COSTS, im all for tradition, but what good is tradition if that tradition of "winning" ends because you have to have a french speaking coach instead of the best person for the job??

and this has nothing to do with Quebec or French ppl. i Love Montreal and Quebec in general,. especially the Women, :D , and i wish i knew more French, its about stupid reasons for not hiring the BEST Available coach whether thats Quinn or anyone else , silly silly silly! thats what interpreters are for are they not?

you mean to tell me if the Habs hired a non french speaking coach there would be an uproar and the fans would burn down the city? ok so what if they won the CUP with that same said NON French speaking coach? i suppose no parade? get real, the Fans would embrace him and give him the key to the city..... tradition or not....

Don Lever.

Hey, i used to golf with that guy!!!

Donny would be a very good choice if he would be chosen to coach the Habs. He's a very good coach & knows his hockey.

The problem with the Habs is.....TOO MANY FUCKING RUSSIANS!!!

I partly agree. Not necessarily too many russians, but more like too many europeans & not enough North Americans.

It seems to be that the team lacks character. Tremendously. They got rid of their top character player when they gave away Begin. Who has the most character on that team? The ones that have the CH tatooed to their hearts? The french-canadian players, mostly. But the problem is that most of them are 3rd and 4th line players. One that truly doesn't is Alex Tanguay. I think his head is still in Colorado or Calgary. I've never seen a player so reluctant to come back to play & help his team like last week.

Barry Melrose for next coach of the Habs!!

I hope this was a joke. Anyways, the Habs need someone with experience. They keep bringing coaches with no previous NHL coaching experience....Tremblay, Vigneault, Therrien, Julien & Carbonneau in recent years. It usually turns into a disaster after or during the 2nd year of their coaching stints. They're then fired & wind up being very good coaches elsewhere, but only after having gained some valuable NHL coaching experience in Mtl.

How about Michel Bergeron? Too old-school maybe. If you consider the past record of Habs coaches, it probably will be someone who's billingual. I think the last Habs coach that was unillingual was Bob Berry. It could very well be Don Lever, who actually might be billingual since he was raised in a billingual community. But again, he has no NHL coaching experience, which is what i believe the Habs dearly need. I also hope for their sake that they surround their next coach with veteran assistants with NHL coaching experience. Kirk Muller simply wasn't a good choice for a rookie coach like Carbonneau.
