The government announced yesterday that salons and body care institutes open on June 1 outside Montreal and the MRC de Joliette. Everything will be done in two phases and the opening date for the greater Montreal region and the MRC de Joliette has not yet been announced.
The presence of COVID-19 in these two regions encourages public health to limit travel and gatherings in shops, explained Dr Richard Massé, strategic medical advisor at the Directorate of Public Health, present at the press point.
Therapeutic care, such as dentists and physiotherapists, will therefore be able to welcome their first clients as of June 1.
It will be recommended:
- Wearing a mask made of handcrafted fabric is highly recommended for the client.
- Service personnel must wear a medical quality mask, protective glasses and gowns.
- The number of people will be limited in the waiting rooms.
- Hairdressers, estheticians, manicurists, etc., must disinfect the chairs, surfaces and tools between each client.
- It is possible that plastic partitions must be installed between the treatment stations if there are not two meters between the chairs.
- A person who has already caught COVID-19 must wait 14 days before making an appointment.
- As soon as the slightest symptom appears, the client must cancel his appointment.
What types of services can be resumed?
The following establishments and services may reopen on June 1 in Quebec (except in Greater Montreal and Joliette):
- Hair salons
- Barbershops
- Beauty centers
- Manicures and pedicures
- Hair removal
- Tattoo and piercing
- Skin care
- Personal care at home
