Hi all! I am new here and I have a question for the connaisseurs here, or even newbie who wants to share their toughts ;)

Canada is known to have semi-legal prostitution. As Wikipedia says : Current laws on prostitution in Canada, introduced in 2014, make it illegal to purchase sexual services but legal to sell them. [...] The activities related to sex work that are prohibited by law include operating a premises (sexual services establishment or brothel) where such activities take place, being found in such an establishment, procuring for such purposes, and communicating such services (soliciting) in a public place, making it difficult to engage in prostitution without breaking any law.

And now, my question:

Where do forum hobbysts and the owners of this forum stand for, according to law?

1. Hobbysts posting here : could they face some charges, are they broking law just by contributing to this place?
2. Forum or forums owner themselves : are they broking law just by communicating or allowing communication of sex services?

Please don't tell me to call my lawyer.. I will not!

Or don't tell me to read the FAQS.. I've done my homeworks. I want your toughts guys or girls! ;)

Cheers all!

You know, this has been discussed so many times already... and there are so many pages of thoughts already... I don't get why you need to ask another.

You obviously have not done your homework.

It's a faux-pas to start a new thread on a topic that is already covered in other threads. It's especially bad to do so as your very first post on the board.

Look behind you.
This search button thingy must be on Merb only, many have no clue how it works.

Well toftt, first off I like your handle, maybe you'll be the one TOFTT in the future.

As for the dinosaurs replies above, don't bother.
As if someone has the time to go through all the threads, especially a newbie.
CaptRenault.... not everyone has too much time on their hand :p

Aficionado, not having the time to go through “all the threads” is not an excuse to post something that has been discussed ad nauseum on here.

Using the search function to look for the word “legal”in thread titles, it took me less than 60 seconds to find at least 5 threads on the same topic.

What I don’t have time for is a repetitive thread started by a newbie who imagines that he is the first guy to think about a topic of such obvious relevance on a board like MERB.

Newbies are welcome here but they should follow the rules of the Board and the general traditions of Internet discussion forums.

Short reply to OP :

No, discussing here on the board will not lead to anything. Would be hard to prove anything. They won't waste time with this
Prostitution between consenting adults is tolerated as long as it does not disturb anybody. For instance hotels won't care you see an escort as long as you don't disturb your room neighbor. Same goes for incalls, police may investiogate if neighbors make complains but otherwise they won't care.

Its kinda like illegal downloads. If you do it for yourself (private use) they won't bother going after you despite it being illegal. It would cost more to take you to court than it would be worth it. On the other hand they will often go after the host of the websites or back in the days when copies/bootleg where still relevant, peoples who would make them for selling them (and therefore making money).

Same for drug trafficking, they don't bother with street corner weed seller unless they have to, they go after suppliers/big fishes.

In other words, if you stick to merb reputable angencies and indies you are 99.9999% safe. In term of classified ads, the risk of law enforcement is again very very low. Its more risky to get scammed/stole from or just plain getting crappy services.

And yeah nice name, surprise nobody took that despite all the years lol
