I wonder what is up with that? I totally understand why SA has the video function: it is to weed out the scammers and is a very useful tool. In my case the girl was at least able to figure out I was a real person and not a bot or scam artist and we then took the conversation to Face Time, which as in your case worked perfectly. I do not understand why the SA Video function did not work either because it is a Zoom based platform and I have done many Zoom meetings on that computer. I do not think the problem was on my end or the girl's, it was with SA video function. The girl seemed quite adept at techology and was using a newer iPhone 11.I tried the SA video function for the first time the other day and the same thing happened to me. We could see each other and I could hear her but she couldn't hear me. FaceTime or WhatsApp have worked perfectly for me with other potential SB's.
I am meeting that girl for a no strings attached dinner tomorrow night so we will see how that goes. She is a 26 year old nurse. The only thing with her is she has a Vermont area code phone number which she hasn't really explained satisfactorily (something vague about getting the phone when her brother lived in Vermont although she never lived there). She seems a wee bit too excited to meet for a NSA date. So tomorrow night should be telling. I do not suffer bullshit or unreliability well, so we will see how it goes.
