Luba Lounge or Sofa on a Friday night

I am in Montreal in a couple of weeks time and I would like a recommendation on a nice bar to take a date on a Friday night. Lively atmosphere, not jammed pack, with intimate locations.

I have always wanted to go to Sofa or the Luba Lounge, not sure which is better. Also any other recommendation would be most appreciated.

Entirely different spots...Sofa is quiet with cigars and a very nice quiet ambience.
Luba is jam packed with students, the terrace is nice, it's unpretentious, great music a la funk, etc.

A girl would like Sofa more.
