Exactly. So it is understood what the media is doing. Throwing not wood not gasoline but ether on the social fire by design.
Ya ever play with ether as a kid? It used to be sold at pharmacies 30 years ago.
Scary stuff blows up before even burning.
Exactly wrong. The legitimate, mainstream news media is just reporting the events. It was the killer, full of racism and hate, that slaughtered innocent people. What's wrong with you?

Just to change thread direction.
Today:

Police seize 28 handguns from North York hotel roomCTV News Toronto

"Ahmed Farah, a 30-year-old Ottawa resident, faces 136 charges"

What is up with Canadians and gun craze?
Wow reminds me of Vegas shooter gun collection in hotel room.
From the similar nature of these seized gun types looks destined to arm an organized militant gang.
Probably left in hotel room for next guest to pick up in some deal.
What a screw up for that gun dealer.
Thankfully no future mass-shooter AR15.
It seems the professional criminals prefer handguns.
Mentally ill shooters use AR15 type weapon some reason I still find suspicious.
Maybe symbolic cause always portrayed in media?
Mass shooter might also have handgun not for victims but to escape, after ditching rifle, or suicide.
Rifle would be cumbersome for running away or positioning for suicide under stress.

When I read of these mentally ill shootings I always go back in my head to Malchurian Candidate movie.

The Manchurian Candidate (1962) - Melvin's Nightmare Scene

Who knows maybe we all Manchurian candidates of the media and statistically some will act?
Mentally unstable people see stories of mass shooters then become mass shooters?
SSRI drugs and media programming who knows.

For example dangerous movie called "Cocaine bear"

Cocaine Bear | Official Trailer [HD]

How many kids will see this then want to try cocaine?
The movie is full of kid actors and has Walt Disney plot line so F'ed up.
Maybe I laugh at jacked up bear but this teaches kids something under funny humour.

Internet sites may encourage suicide - National Institutes of Health

Mass Shootings: The Role of the Media ...National Institutes of Health

That is why I think media should shut up about shooter ideology.
Hundreds of Millions read these "hate" headlines and are slowly more divided.
This is called Balkanization.
"The meaning of BALKANIZE is to break up (a region, a group, etc.) into smaller and often hostile units."

And yes these events are weaponized politically.

Florida Democrat: DeSantis has 'blood on his hands'

Maybe there will be riots?
More random street attacks?
People being pushed into metro tracks in NYC?

Damn even China news same headline.
You never hear much of mass killers in China unless government decides and if it fits an agenda.
Usually in China it is mass stabbings but very rare in news but it happens.
It won't be in North American front page for sure.
Not the best headline for Billions in China to read below:

White gunman driven by racial 'hate' kills 3 black people in Jacksonville, Florida | South China Morning Post

So it begins at a university.

Florida gunman was chased from Black college minutes ...Reuters

"The shooter, 21-year-old Ryan Christopher Palmeter, had parked on campus and was donning gloves and a vest when students saw him and summoned the officer, ...
Palmeter then sped off campus, pursued by the officer and jumping a curb on the way, before heading to a nearby store to carry out what authorities have said was a shooting motivated by racial hatred.
Faison thanked the officer on Monday for stymieing "what we believe were the original aims of this white supremacist domestic terrorist."

Dang the shooter Panicked and lost situational control then ran to a Dollarama?
Take notice AUTHORITIES said it was racially motivated.
Who are these AUTHORITIES?
These AUTHORITIES must know that any violent future repercussions from what they "say" is on them?
And these AUTHORITIES will be at risk from repercussions especially police on the street.
Public money will have to be used to deal with future repercussions also.
Too much too fast without formal investigation.
They know public has short attention span.

Since the Jacksonville shooter visited a university campus I will comment on this one.
Just this now:

UNC faculty member killed in campus shooting and a ...CBS News

Completely different style of media approach.
This type of reporting is less culturally intrusive.
This type of reporting is neutral and should be the norm.
AUTHORITIES have nothing to say here?
This type of reporting is more normal and less triggering for sure.

"Upon arrival, police discovered that a faculty member had been shot and killed. James said police would not be offering any further details about the victim as they work to contact the victim's family members...
Police identified a suspect and he was taken into custody at 2:31 p.m. Police will not release the name of the suspect until formal charges are filed, James said."

I won't post anymore on this event but it overloaded my news feed kinda like what they did with covid.

Tonight a white man late 20s or 30 killed 26 peoples and injured 50 to 60 in Lewiston Maine.
He used an assault rifle with high capacity magazines.
He's still on the run.
He's still on the run...and Republicans are still supporting (and being bankrolled by!) the gun lobby.

He is a firearms instructor and is in the military reserve. Having access to arms is part of his job. It is like a police officer gone berserk. Nothing to do with the gun lobby.

I disagree. It had everything to do with the gun lobby, gun manufacturers, the NRA, House and Senate and state republican legislators. They all have blood on their hands, but they don't care. The US is approaching 600 mass shootings in 2023 with no end in sight because of inaction and acquiescence to a perverted interpretation of the 2nd amendment. That's sick and disgusting.

I heard that this summer he spent 2 weeks in a mental ilness hospital.
Even after that he was able to posses legally or not a war firearm and multiple high capacity magazines and plenty of cartridges.

Did they catch him? There are rumors that he is an outdoorsman and is headed to Canada, possibly Quebec.
No, not yet. He will be captured eventually if he's still alive. Let's hope he's not another Eric Rudolph. If he's psychotic, as his history suggests, he will fuck up sooner than later.

You can put the blame on them all you like but that is not where the problem lies.
It is the inherent love of firearms by the American population themselves, they will not let go of their right to bear arms and until a new generation is in place where the majority will force their elected politicians to put in laws restricting the sale and possession of weapons that are designed solely for killing people nothing will change.
This is not about Democrats vs Republican as all of you keep fighting over.

I don't totally agree with you. I just saw the new President of the House (a Republican) say that prayers would resolve the problem with mass shooting and shooting of innocent americans !

I seem to remember Democrats being in power quite a few times in fact they are now so no it has to be the people themselves to rise up in a majority and force their politicians to bend to their will.
This crap with shifting blame from one party to the other and always with the hopes and prayers has been going on forever and it will continue with guys like you wanting to feel better because you can blame it on the Republicans.

You are either misinformed or misinforming. To enact meaningful gun safety legislation, like an assault weapons ban, Dems need a majority in the House (they don't have), 60 seats in the Senate (they don't have), and POTUS in the White House. Otherwise, Republicans will block gun safety measures at every opportunity.

That's a major reason that American democracy is in such a perilous position. Too many people are simply ignorant of the actual facts.

In this particular case the Republicans receive huge contributions from the gun lobby while the Democrats receive a comparatively miniscule amount so of course the corrupt self-serving GOP protects the gun lobby while crying crocodile tears each and every time there's yet another gun-related tragedy.

The only solution will be to drastically reduce the GOP's power so that the Democrats can put the nation back on course in respect to gun violence and so many other issues. But for that to happen, millions of voters will have to learn to read and to get their their information from legitimate sources so that they no longer believe the BS that's out there and even more importantly so that these ignorant fools don't make ridiculous, uninformed, incorrect statements further spreading that same BS.

Again if an overwhelming majority of Americans want weapons that are designed purely to kill banned and made illegal to own then and only then will politicians be forced to capitulate to the public demand.
Until then you guys can play your party games of blame to your hearts content and it will achieve nothing, and innocent people will continue to die.
