More carnage overnight on the streets of Philadelphia. 5 adults are dead and 2 children are injured by a shooter wearing a bulletproof vest.

The suspect taken into custody in the Philadelphia mass shooting is a 40 year old black man. He was in a heavily black neighborhood of Philly so it is likely that his victims were also black.

A pretty black post.
You forgot to state: A 2-year-old boy and a 13-year-old were also wounded in the Monday night massacre that made the working-class area of Kingsessing the site of the nation’s worst violence around the July 4 holiday.

About four hours after the Philadelphia shooting, fatal gunfire rang out at a neighborhood festival in Fort Worth, Texas, leaving three people dead and eight injured.

A day earlier, a holiday weekend block party in Baltimore, about 90 miles (145 kilometers) to the southwest, was marred when two people were killed and 28 others were wounded in a shooting. More than half of the victims were minors, officials said.

God Bless America! all the racists and bigots living there! And others supporting them!

Unfortunately Joe will be strongly opposed by the GOP because...you know...gas stoves and Hunter are SO much more important. Besides, the Republicans don't want to lose the millions they receive from the gun lobby.

You're referring to the young black males who shot scores of innocent black people in several recent incidents of mass shooting (Denver, Saginaw, Baltimore, Philly, etc) as racists and bigots?

That seems bizarre to me. But I know that leftists love to scream RACISM!!! whenever anyone says anything they don't like about race. Is Stephen A. Smith a racist? He would be rather surprised at the charge.

Concerning Mass Shootings and Guns Laws. It is obvious that a vast majority 57% of US citizens consider controls should be more strict. In 2010 it was only 42%.
Trying to play a political game, pretending it is a problem mainly for the black minority is just short sighting. Using words as "leftist" is just a sign of lack of arguments.
I doubt there are 57% leftists in US, the Democratic Party is a center party as the Republican party is mostly Center-Right. Of course there are more extreme position in each ones.
Mass Shootings are more and more a problem touching all American citizens. Violence in general is increased, we see it even in the way people interact on social media. It's not a surprise someone having a gun at home will use it in a moment of extreme distress or frustration.

That this past Independence Day weekend was a violent one is not a surprise. As the Guardian reporter who is also writing this blog reports, the Fourth of July is the most mass-shooting prone day over the last four years, research indicates, with the day after it coming in as a close second:

Gun violence is a daily reality across the US, but an emerging body of research indicates the most risky day for mass shootings in the nation is the Fourth of July, when Americans celebrate their independence from Britain.

Using data from the Gun Violence Archive, James Alan Fox, a criminologist at Northeastern University, found that there have been 52 mass shootings on the Fourth of July over the past decade, averaging just over five a year, and more than on any other given day.

His analysis, which he implemented for USA Today, underscores how, in a country where Republicans in many states have acted to loosen gun laws, it is routine that the barbecues, block parties and parades held to commemorate the US’s birthday become scenes of bloodshed.

Yet it's you who brings race into every post about mass shootings. I think it's obvious why you do that so enough obfuscation. Let's confine the discussion to mass shootings and leave racism out of it.

Who appointed you as the Mass Shooting thread chief censor? You don't make the rules about what can and cannot be said in this or any other thread.

My posts are about the common characteristics and circumstances of many mass shootings of the last several years. I have cited numerous examples and some data to show that a disproportionate share of mass shootings are committed by young, black males with illegal guns and the victims of these murderous thugs are everyday black citizens.

The solution to the problem is not for the government to seize legally owned guns from law-abiding citizens. Even if the government could do that, the bad guys would not magically turn in their guns.

The solution to the problem lies with American citizens, the courts, police, prosecutors, judges and prisons. Unfortunately, because of idiotic leftist ideas like "defund the police," Soros-funded weak-on-crime prosecutors, no-bail laws and the prison abolition movement, the problem of violent crime in the U.S. has steadily worsened over the last decade.

Also, there was yet another mass shooting in a black neighborhood Monday night:

The police have not caught any suspects yet but I would bet you 100-1 that if they are ever caught they will be young black males using illegal handguns and not white frat boys from Texas Christian University. I apologize for noticing things that make you extremely uncomfortable. Maybe you should stop reading this thread.
Ouch. I think my post hit a nerve. I will leave the censorship to the mods who are fair and capable referees. Your posts on this thread typically center on one villain - specifically black men - although with this rant you are blaming liberals as well. You ignore the fact that there exists an obscene proliferation of easily obtained, deadly weapons in the USA, the hate and fear that is palpable on the right, the normalization of violence, the spreading of disinformation, the radicalization of the MAGA base, widespread economic inequality and social injustice, etc, etc. These factors all contribute to the mass shooting crisis we suffer through every day in America but it's all exacerbated because of the guns. No one can solve a complex problem like mass shootings easily but the solution starts with common-sense gun safety regulations that the majority of Americans want and not with blaming the black man or liberals.

There is nothing more American than mass shootings on the 4th of July. The Gun Violence Archive counted 22 mass shootings over the extended holiday weekend with an injury total at 126 and the death count at 20. This gun sickness this obsession with guns must stop. It is no one's God-given right and patriotic duty to possesd unlimited instruments of death. Congress: do something.

Man who killed 23 people in Texas Walmart shooting targeting Latinos sentenced to 90 life terms by federal judge

1688750817702.png

Patrick Crusius, the mass shooter who killed 23 people at an El Paso Walmart in one of the deadliest attacks targeting Latinos in modern US history, was sentenced to 90 consecutive life terms by a federal judge on Friday.

Authorities say Crusius rampaged through the El Paso Walmart with the sole intention of killing Mexican people and immigrants. At least eight of those killed were Mexican nationals, according to Secretary of Foreign Affairs Marcelo Ebrard. Crusius is also believed to have posted a hate-filled screed online just minutes before the shooting in which he espoused xenophobic and White supremacist beliefs.

Prior to this deadly attack, Crusius posted an on-line manifesto with white nationalist and anti-immigrant themes while citing the Christchurch mosque shooting and the Great Replacement conspiracy theory as inspiration for the attack.

I'm glad that Crusius has been sentenced to life-a death sentence would have been even better. Also I won't make any excuses for him such as "...widespread economic inequality and social injustice, etc, etc." which is what liberals do when the shooter is any race except white. He's just as much of an evil thug as other mass shooters.

Mass shooters always attack vulnerable people in places where they are likely to not meet any resistance such as schools, stores, theaters and workplaces. It's too bad that there was no law-abiding, gun carrying citizen in the Walmart that day who could have shot back at Crusius and stopped him from killing so many people.

So you finally decided to comment, albeit offhandly, on my earlier rebuttal. Economic inequality and social injustice are not excuses just reality for many people. That reality can result in antisocial behavior and violence. Just like it can for the person who has been radicalized and is full of hate or the person who is mentally ill. When these people have easy access to weapons, mass shootings can be the result.

Yes, we should keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill. However, these days liberals refuse to recognize when a person has very clear signs of mental illness.

For example, the Philadelphia mass shooter liked to dress up as a woman. What could be more clear as a sign of mental illness than a man who dresses as a woman?

He also exhibited another clear sign of mental illness-he was a supporter of Black Lives Matter.

I was shocked when Joe Biden recently hosted a group of similarly mentally ill people on the grounds of the White House. But I guess they had to pass through a metal detector and there were lots of Secret Service guys around to keep them in line. Though one guy proudly took off his shirt to show off his fake boobs to Joe. Not a good look! o_O

The man charged with killing five in a mass shooting in Philadelphia was known to his family and neighbors for dressing as a woman, but while they described him to The Post as “weird,” none felt he was capable of violence.

Kimbrady Carriker, 40, has been hit with a slew of murder and other charges after allegedly opening fire with an AR-15-style rifle in the city’s working-class Kingsessing neighborhood Monday night.

As well as those murdered, two kids were shot and others were injured in the shooting, which seemed to target random individuals.

Several neighbors, who knew the suspect simply as “Kim,” said they were stunned to learn of the alleged mass shooter’s identity, insisting he had never caused any problems in the neighborhood in the decade he lived there.

“He never bothered anyone. We knew he was different, we see him dressed as a woman a few times but he never caused a problem,” said Bernard Mason, 53.

“We thought he was gay. We never saw him with anyone. We saw him dressed as a woman. That’s his thing. I have no problems with that.”

Carriker had posted several photos on Facebook in recent months where he sported long hair, jewelry, and female clothing. His mugshot, released earlier Wednesday, showed him with short braided hair, a mustache, and a goatee.

Another neighbor, who didn’t want to be named, described Carriker as “strange” but said he still never thought he was capable of violence.

“He was a good guy but something made his rubber band pop,” the man said, adding: “You just don’t start dressing like a woman out of nowhere.”

The neighbor described Carriker as going “undercover” when he dressed in women’s outfits.

“He would do it randomly,” he said. “He was weird, to tell you the truth, but he was a nice guy.”

Another neighbor, Gary Jones, said he’d only seen him dressing up once, adding: “I don’t think it’s an everyday thing.”

“I just thought he was a regular guy. Yeah, I saw him in regular clothes and one time in female clothes — cross-dressing,” said the retired bus driver, 69.

Carriker’s grandmother, who wouldn’t divulge her name, said she saw him dress in female clothing once — and he never did it again in front of her because she didn’t approve.

“He knew I disapproved of it … He dressed as a man when he came to me when he was around me,” she said.

“He did it one time and that was it.”

“He was no trans. He was just gay,” she continued. “That’s my perspective.”

While police and the DA’s office initially referred to the suspect with they/them pronouns, authorities have since been referring to Carriker as a male, CNN reported.

Officials in the District Attorney’s Office were not immediately available for comment when contacted by The Post.

On his since-deleted Facebook page, Carriker regularly posted about supporting Black Lives Matter, including supporting workers who protested in the Strike For Black Lives in July 2020.

At least some of the victims gunned down in Monday’s bloodshed were black.

Asked why he would target such residents if he supported BLM, his grandmother said: “Well, that’s a question that all black people should all be asking.”

The grandmother, who described Carriker as a “good person,” said her grandson hadn’t stopped by her home in two months, which was out of character for him.

“The weird thing is he would come by at least three times a month. I haven’t seen him the last two months. I find that kinda odd,” she said.

“I couldn’t believe it. It’s devastating. What happened? What set you off to do these things?” she said of the bloodshed.

“Something must have happened to set him off like that.”

Meanwhile, Carriker was ordered held without bail during his arraignment in Philadelphia County Municipal Court earlier Wednesday.

In addition to the five counts of murder, he has been charged with attempted murder, reckless endangerment, and aggravated assault.

The holiday weekend bloodshed unfolded when Carriker is said to have donned a bulletproof vest and ski mask before opening fire at random people in the street with the rifle, authorities said.

When he surrendered to cops a short time later, he was allegedly found with a pistol, extra magazines, and a police scanner in his possession.

Carriker, who had a prior conviction for having an unlicensed firearm in 2003, was allegedly carrying a “ghost gun,” Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner told CNN on Wednesday, referring to an unregistered firearm that’s manufactured illegally.

Krasner, who described the horror as a “random, premeditated, deliberate killing,” said there was good reason to believe the AR-15 and the ghost gun Carriker used “may have been obtained illegally.”

Carriker doesn’t appear to have had any prior connection to his alleged victims and authorities are still trying to determine a motive, the DA said.

The slain victims have been identified as Lashyd Merritt, 20, Dymir Stanton, 29, Ralph Moralis, 59, Daujan Brown, 15, and Joseph Wamah Jr., 31.

A 2-year-old boy and a 13-year-old youth were also injured by gunfire, while another 2-year-old boy and a woman were hit by shattered glass.

I believe that what caused the deaths and wounded is not the way that guy dressed but his use of an AR-15 assault weapon !
