Tried it last night

I got on late last night after going to the Cardinals game. Whoo Hoo 5-0 over the Reds. Me and Kaempferrand were the only ones there, great chat between two guys who see eye to eye on lots of subjects. Thanks mods, for getting us a room. cheers, nacho

Well conversation is always good when there is not too many people around and you don't have to juggle like multiple PMs making sure you are stating your answers and comments to the right person.

Just checked the terb board and like techman another poster there says it worked for him. I switched browsers but no luck. Same problem. Ran a browser clear and disk cleanup then reboot but still no luck. I have an idea that maybe this is happening to those who were using it yesterday. Just a thought. I wonder if some changes were effected while we were all on.

Yes I did a complete cleanup and reboot. Still nothing. A terb moderator has gone into chat but so far nothing. Kaempferand and I were on chatting until 2:30 last night. I would like to see if he is affected also.

Maybe you were already logged. Try to log out then log in to see if it still works.

Did and still works. My computer environment is quite extensive and my firewall is hardware based not software like many users. It might have a link.

If you are running a software firewall and it is configured to prevent the target site from identifying the site you are coming from it will block your access to chat. To see if this is the problem just disable your firewall and try to enter the chat. If it works, you have id'd your problem. Many firewalls are configured this way "out of the box" and it's a common problem with a variety of web sites.

I don't have a firewall but I am using sympatico high speed and they use that kind of thing extensively. I wonder if that might be it. The only other culprit I can think of is downloading that little video of the nude magician. But somehow I can't see that as being the problem. It would seem to me that it has to be some change made in the last 12 hours. A terb mod (Fred) is still checking it out.

Yes I am using Bell sympatico. I'll bet that's it. Now to check with Dahlia and if she is also with Bell, we have our answer. Problem is though, there doesn't seem to be any way to pm her. May have to wait for others using Sympatico to report in. Maybe the answer is to put out a thread to get their attention. I think I will try that.

Thanks Dahlia. So that isn't it. Bell swears they have not installed it on me though it shows up on my online account page. However they may be right as it has to be installed at both ends apparently, theirs and mine. Still why is Martin168 encountering the phenomenon he describes above. Curious.

Problem seems to be chronic!

Well I have exhausted all avenues. It seems to be happening on the terb board as well. I haven't checked the perb board. From the evidence of all of the return posts I have to say the problem resides with the chat program. Perhaps with cookies a file has been corrupted or deleted. I am just guessing here. It has not cleared up so I would suppose that for those of us experiencing it, our chat days may very well be over until someone identifies the problem. We still have the board.
