Look behind you.
It is almost that time of the year again. Are you the politically correct who says Happy Holidays or do you throw caution in the wind and say Merry Christmas?
I am an Atheist and say Merry Christmas and the reason being is because it is Christmas, not just a holiday.
I am also someone who will correct someone who says Happy Holidays, main reason is I am tired of trying not to offend someone who has different beliefs.

I am the son of a Jew and a Catholic and grew up celebrating both holidays (best case scenario when you are a kid), but Christmas was always the special holiday because all of my family here are Catholics. And to me even if you are not Christian the Christmas holiday can be celebrated in a secular manner because what it really is all about is peace and love and giving gifts and offerings of peace and drinking of wine and what is wrong with any of those things?

Joyeux Noel works fine with me.

Around Montréal...
Seriously, I will wish what it is appropriate depending of the day:

Joyeux Noël! around Christmas
Bonne année! around New Year

And if I have to wish something more general, because I am not going to meet that person during the Holiday's time, it will be
Passez ou passe un superbe temps des Fêtes!

I did not stop myself ever to wish whatever is the background of the person in front of me, but if I suspect the person in front of me to be from another cultural background, I will open the subject, but I never had someone who told me that I shouldn't ever wish him or her Merry Christmas and now they are so angry about me.

The politically correctness seem to be "political' exactly, in private & public institutions. The everyday people that you find on your path are just kind and don't mind, even appreciate that you include them and wish them good.

I wish everyone Merry Christmas. I am not religious but I appreciate it when others wish me Merry Christmas.

December 25 is Christmas is it not? It says so right on the Calendar.

Merry Christmas is what I say unless I know your not Christian and then I would wish you a happy holiday.
