The issue with this is some guys may not be too willing to come or have to go early... I mean peoples usually work in the week time..
Me I cannot go on weekends because I work every weekend. I can only during the week. Only these two weeks I can on weekends since I am on vacation.

My take, I enjoyed the mini GT, less people, less planning and easier to converse with everyone. Everyone paid for their own stuff and it's just about a casual meet, drink and chat.

Instead of one big bang (big GT), there could be multiple small ones (8-10 people).

Agreed. A small one and during the week when there are less crowds. That night there were just way too many people. I imagine Saturdays are even more crowded.

GTs were done in different forms. The ones that was the most common was the bar/venue. The place would be reserved for "us", and the bar would make its money by selling alcohol. Of course it needed to be a significant group. Once a party was held in a private house of 3 floors and PERSONALLY that was my favorite because while the majority of the party was on the top floor with loud music and dancing etc, we could go around and just lay casually other places to have more "quiet spaces" to talk. There was even peoples sitting in the stairs. If you saw the parties in movies like American Pie, it was almost like this, wich i tought was super cool. That specific party also had room reserved for 30 minutes quickies with workers that wanted to work that evening (they had some kinda glowy stick around their neck).

Honestly, before actually making preparation for one, i think it would be best to gauge the respond of the SPs in general. Because they are the ones who would make the guys come (no pun intended) in bigger numbers.
Holy SHIT would I be down for something like that. While I stayed quite this last attempt I was hoping to attend the next one so let's get that going!

I agree, small get togethers are the way to go, make it a once every 3 months kind of thing and most times it will be different people joining as we all don't have the same schedules.

Yes, Saturdays are more difficult to arrange. I work most nights, but periodically, I have weeknights off.
And less people would be better.
Is everyone set in their ways that it has to be in the city, or can it be anywhere that is easy to get to?

Pretty much has to ... because otherwise it become just too complicated (at least for me) to go. Granted this does not need to be right downtown so we can avoid the mistake of last time. Could be a different part of town but the thing is, it need to close to a metro or something so it remain accessible.

Exactly. Same here. Weeknights are best for me. I work evening shifts and work every weekend, I got the week off.

Easy to get to is relative. For me it would be best in downtown as I live in downtown and will take the metro.

Okay, I just wanted to know cause I have a friend who owns a place in NDG and could of asked if we could meet there. But like mentioned, his place does get busy also like other places.
I am sure we can come up with a plan for DT near a metro to make things easier for everyone.

This is actually really exciting—I’d love to help out with organizing! The idea of a mini-VIP party was enough to wake me up from my slumber and get me to post again after many years. I attended most of the previous gatherings, from the late GG days right up to the very end (I only missed maybe 2 or 3 events).
It was always great meeting and connecting with both guys and girls from the scene.
There aren't many places where people can come together, hang out and just connect on a human level, especially in this industry.
I miss the wild stories people would share over a beer and how quickly everyone would relax and open up.
Fun fact: I actually ended up moving in with a girl I met at one of those parties—but that's a story for another time.

As much as I enjoyed those parties, there were definitely things that could have been done differently, and maybe this is the perfect chance to make those improvements. Here are a few ideas:
  • A smaller, more discreet, and private venue. A laid-back gathering with background music rather than a loud party where people can barely hear each other. It also makes it easier to manage, safer and it creates a much more relaxed ambiance. Plus nobody wants to attract unwanted attention.
  • A common complaint before was the lack of transparency. Whoever will be involved in the planning should make sure this is organized for the right reasons, the community, not personal gain.
  • Getting agencies and indys involved to help maintain a balanced male-female ratio. They could also help recommend or vet guests.
  • For the location, I think a large Airbnb or private residence near downtown would be ideal. Even though Airbnbs don't allow "parties," I think we can find a spacious spot that can accept guests if it's kept low-key.
These are just some initial thoughts—let me know what you think!

Hello everyone

Next weekend i know its American holliday (so i suppose our fellow south johns may be busy) but personally for me its comiccon weekend in Montreal.

I would be free to meet fellow merbistes on that weekend in a local downtown bar/terrasse after diner.

Im thinking Saturday the 5th around 6/7pm.

Of course any SP that want to join is welcome but on her own time.

Let me know if you would be interested.

I had a few peoples talking to me about this in the past but the DMs are maybe a bit far so thus why im posting this open invitation.
Damn did i missed this ? Just see it today! But i’m down for next one ! Count me in
