Montreal dance clubs/bars

Hi everyone!

Some friends of mine are coming into town next weekend and would like to go drinking and dancing, and I'm looking for suggestions as to where we should go. We are in our mid to late 30's and the one request that has been made is not too much techno or rap.
I don't go clubbing often and when I do I usually end up in techno clubs so I'm at a bit of a loss here, anyone have any ideas on great places to check out?

The only place i know where its not rap/thecno is foufoune electrique... LOL honestly i don't know well montreal. What kind of music your friends are looking for?

I guess it depends on what you're looking for. Latulipe on Mont Royal can be fun, the crowd is a little older (as in early/late thirties). Music is 80 or 90's depending on the night.
I also enjoy the Edgar/Lobby Bar/Porte Rouge; they're all located on Mont-Royal. Not sure what music they play now that I don't go clubbing too often, probably top 40 or r&b. I always have a fun time when I hit one of those places.

Le Rouge on St-Laurent could be an option but I haven't been there in a while. Last time (2 years ago) there was a r&b floor and I think the other one was more techno?

I wouldn't do Foufones, its more of a punk rock young college kid place. For an older group I'd say , Apt 200 ( new bar/lounge), Santos, Brake or all good options. I'd stick with old port more, st laurent is a lot younger though there are good places there too like Nesta.

So we ended up at La Tulipe Saturday night - great time! Nice crowd, not too young, really friendly. Eighties music was a bit hit with my friends, we were dancing all night. And drinking like crazy, lol...I had the worst hangover Sunday...that part wasn't so fun.
