I just bid $45US per night for 5/10-12 (Downtown zone) on PriceLine (PL) - and the bid was accepted.
Staying at the Holiday Inn Select Centerville/Downtown (3-star rating, edge of Chinatown). $103US TOTAL for two nights (including all taxes and fees). Not bad!
Also try HotWire.com for awesome rates but (like PL) - you don't know WHAT hotel you're getting 'til AFTER the charges go on your credit card.

Yes the rates are kind of high, but this hotel is first rate. I liked it a lot better than the Sofitel, for which I paid US$80 on Priceline President's Day weekend, but got a very small room. The lobby level restaurant at Delta C-V is very good (better than Sofitel's), and I also liked the option of pay-per-view movies. You are correct that the Delta C-V is a little bit away from downtown, which is not as much of a problem when you consider the Metro station one block away. Old Montreal is a very short walk.

Dont forget there are 2 Deltas in downtown Montreal.

Hotel is located on Ste-Catherine and Ste-Laurent. Best I could find for Grand Prix weekend that is Downtown and not $350 a night. How is this neighborhood? I have been getting mixed information. Was told that it is in the "maine" a seedy part of town. Another said it is near the "maine" but is still in a ok part of town. Anybody out there know this part of town? Any feedback is appreciated

I remember walking by this hotel and thinking it was a dump. The good news, Mr. Stoner, is that you are a very short walk - actually, a stone's throw - from Chinatown, and if you like Vietnamese and Chinese food, you are in business. If you are paranoid about SARS, well, that's another story. There is a Chinese restaurant on corner of rue St. Catherine and St. Laurent which is very good - forget the name but it is on the northeast corner, near the Metro station.

Hotel Abri du Voyageur is a place that does most hourly rates for the girls and has live ins... some of the girls keep a full time place there to use for dates...

Thank you for the helpful input. I just dug deeper into the pockets and booked at a well known hotel. I never mind staying at a low buck hotel close to the action, but this place sounds like a serious dump. Thanks to the posters on the board, I am sure I will have a much better trip.

Pretty decent hotel, good price. The only complaint I have is that it's the same frigging floor manager working at the lobby every night. And everytime I bring in a girl, he would look at me without saying anything, and then look at the girl and say hello in French. There is only one entrance, and it's small, so there is no way I could get around it. I don't really give a fuck if he knows or not, which he probably does, but it just pisses me off.

Stayed at the Europa last summer and it was a decent hotel. Very nice bathrooms, rooms decent. Nice and roomy, also. Probably 3 star level. Location is great. Neither of the two ladies I saw had any complaints about it. Of course, they might have simply kept them to themselves.

This is total speculation, but there might be a situation where the door guy is hassling the girls for a "tip" for letting them in. That is the sort of thing that can make some hotels more friendly than others.

Cant go wrong for 70$ Should be SP friendly due to its size and amount of people that will be in and out all day and night.
There is plenty of "Adult entertainment" walking distance or a short cab drive away.
Enjoy the city.
