'4' hotel on Hotwire
Close friend of mine once got a '4' star hotel for $81 US through Hotwire, and it was the very accomodating 'Sofitel'. He loved it, especially the shower!!! *wink*
He did mention the room being a bit small, though....but again, the shower!!!

Le Centre Sheraton on Hotwire
I just got back from a recent trip. I went with Hotwire for an advertised 4 star hotel in downtown. Got the Le Centre Sheraton for $80US each night for 2 nights. Was rated a 4 star on Hotwire.
On a second note, there is a restaurant just around the corner that was recommended by the concierge. Name was Rosalie's. Great food. However, the server name Isabell was really hot. She was very friendly. I gave her my card and asked her over for some late night drinks, but alas she did not show. No wonder we Americans come up to Montreal to adore the women.

What you said about George and the waitress at Le Globe is true. I met him back then, as a matter of fact. Just casual chatting and he was quite 'down-to-earth', actually.

Thats right, Clooney was staying at the Vogue during the filmimg. There was an episode of Paparazzi, a show on Life Network where Louie D. the paprazzi photographer was in Montreal tracking down celebs that were in town shooting films. It was in the winter, and he caught Clooney leaving the Vogue on the way to filming, George was wearing some sort of sailors outfit.
Louie also got some pics of Billy Bob Thornton wearing the vile of blood, back when he was married to Angelina Jollie. They were staying at the Omni. I guess the Vogue and the Omni are popular hotels for celebs when theyre in town for filming.

It is true that such celebs as Clooney, DeCaprio, Pitt, Barrymore and others have stayed at the Vogue, and Thornton at the Omni. However, several have also stayed at the Inter-Continental and at the several 'boutique' hotels located in Old Mtl.
Movie stars filming in the Mtl area often rent a house in the wealthier sections of Mtl (Westmount, etc) as Scorsese is presently doing. Some less well-known producers have bought condos and houses in Old Mtl, and local celebs will often rent a suite at Le Germain to entertain 'the ladies'.
As for sports celebrities visiting Mtl, the Major League Baseball teams reside at the Sheraton Center, while the NHL hockey teams reside at Le Chateau Champlain, co-owned by Habs' legend Serge Savard.
If you want to bump into a celebrity during dinner, the place to be is usually at Le Globe, Le Blanc, Moishes or Buena Notte. During the daytime, several can often be seen (during the summer) having lunch/drinks at one of the several bistros located on Crescent street.
For a night out, i've spotted several at Wanda's and at Solid Gold.
As well as which celebs enjoy 'hobbying' while in Mtl, well.....i'm certain many of us have heard many stories from some of the lesser-known ladies in the Mtl hobby scene. One agency being regular used for such 'encounters' is very well-known as being prominently advertised in the local french paper. What is hillarious about all this is that very rarely will you ever hear of a celebs/athletes calling up ladies in the high end. Most of the times, these wealthy hobbyists will prefer paying the cheaper rates. It's no surprise hearing from many of the ladies that the cheapier clients are usually the wealthier ones.

I used Hotwire to get the Novotel for $58 US a nite. I believe it's 'escort friendly' although I think the escorts needs to get there before 10 pm before the elevator requires a key card after 10 pm.

This is a decent hotel, as mentioned you need your room card to access the elevators after a certain time. They don't have the usual room cards that you swipe, but these funny looking plastic cards that you have to jam in the door to open. The gym is small but if you channel surf the channels on the t.v. in the gym you'll find pornos playing.
I was also staying at the Vogue when George Clooney was filming in Montreal. Matt Damon was also there and they were hanging out in the lobby bar nightly with a group of people. One night he got behind the bar and bought and made drinks for everyone there. He seemed pretty cool.

You somewhat stated in another thread that you enjoyed seeing someone unreviewed in order to 'take one for the team'. You didn't seem to have a problem forking out at least $450 to see someone completely new and up to this morning not reviewed, yet, you complain about paying a lousy $14 in taxes???

My understanding is that Priceline bookings include the PST (which is non-refundable) but not the GST, which is refundable (hope I got this right. I know one is refundable and the other isn't). Therefore, its like getting your refund up front.

The Sofitel was listed as 4.5 *s. 4 *s have been Hilton, and lately, Sheraton. I've never personally heard of anyone getting the Omni on Hotwire, although it shows up under the vacation packages.

a good friend and poster asked me to recommend some hotels in montreal...if you are on a limited budget,i would recommend the TAJ MAHAL on st. hubert...their prices range from 59.95 to 75.00..plus its close to all the action..it used to be the ROYAL ROUSILLON... i would not stay at any of the other joints on st hubert..the TRAVELODGE on rene levesque is nice too and if you have the money,i loved the DELTA-CENTRE VILLE!!!!
any info on a city that is clean and resonable to stay that allows easy access to Frontiere, Hilltop and Eclipse? i know its out of the Montreal area but i just need a place to crash and have some fun this Saturday! thanks guys

During the winter months, the location makes the Hyatt well worth the extra $3-$8 per day. Unless, of course, you enjoy walking in the harsh, bitter cold until your nostrils are frozen, in which case by all means bid lower.
