I guess someone is targetted.

I'm less concerned about clubs closing, right now I am more concerned about being in a club or spa during an arson attempt. This last week TWO spas in Montreal area burned down. I don't like clubs where there are stairs, if there was a fire, no way to get out. I dunno what the hell is going on, stabbings on Toronto subways, spas here burning down. Two spas burned down in one night, Exotica in Laval and one on south shore, maybe we need horse patrols like what's going on now on the Toronto subways, there's officers on horses outside some TTC stations, so have an officer on horse stationed outside the clubs. Giddy up !

There is always a second emergency exit, generally back door. But fire is a big concern, specially if it is criminal.
Since 1972, when Blue Bird Café went on fire, security was greatly enhanced in all Montréal public club.

This last week TWO spas in Montreal area burned down.

2 spas in Laval burned down: Exotica and l'Étoile Magique... Those seem arsons. They were closed when it happened.

This one, Spa Finlandais a legit Spa, in Rosemère near Laval, might be different, the cause of the fire is not yet known but an investigation will follow. It is the third one... 2013, 2018 and 2023...

I found that Motel Oscar (closed since a few weeks) also burned but was empty... occupied by squatters...

I wonder if someone is intentionally burning these down to make way for condo development for the rich. It is interesting to note how these are attacks against sex work establishments or those linked to it like Motel Oscar.

Wow hadn't heard about the Laval MP... Concerns me that I visited two of those three pretty regularly... I don't know Exotica. My impression is that neither Etoile Magique nor Spa Victoria appeared to be significant, or "notorious" in any way on the MP scene. One is Chinese and the other is Russian, so what connection could they have? Victoria has a big garish sign on a busy street with a lot of other small businesses. Etoile was the opposite - grungy industrial park.
Am I naïve to think that many of these low-key places (which is what I prefer) are not just single owner/operator businesses?
So many speculative possibilities... Disgruntled former employee? Disgruntled client? concerned citizens? turf war? insurance? ....

If they remain closed more than 6 months then the City can pull their license. They may be granted an extension however those type licenses are Grandfathered, that's why Laval allowed them to stay in operation cause they are in that special Industrial zone, so if the license goes, the City may not allow another massage to go in that location. Same thing with strip clubs: club closes, license is pulled and the Zoning is changed. The landlord could also elect not to renew their business Lease considering they are apparently a target for criminal activity. The landlord has to protect the interests of the other businesses in that building, there are adjacent businesses.

Three burning down in a short period of time is not a co-incidence. Have you notice the thugs are killing each other off? I suspect the low level scumbags are looking for protection money.

In the last 10 years, all these massage parlors have burned down.
The interview with the two spa owners said that already in 2014, several places were threatened, ransacked or burned.
Indeed, as you can see, there are many that have been burned and that's not counting those that have been ransacked.
But three spas in two days is still quite incredible!
