I would like to thank the Leafs for beating the Canucks.

And i'm thanking the habs for beating Carolina last night. :D

Now if the Flyers can beat the Rangers today i'll be even happier! :D

But considering that Henrik Lundqvist will get the start and Chris Kreider out for the season it'll be a walk-in-the-park for the Flyers! :D

The Oilers are 2 points behind Vegas for the Pacific Division title with game in hand.

Draisatl has 107 points to 94 for McDavid. It seems unlikely McDavid will have enough games to catch Draisatl with a 13 point lead. For McDavid to win the scoring title, at this point, Draisatl would have to get hurt or go into a massive scoring slump. It seems like the scoring title is in the bag for Leon.

NHL player needed 90 stitches after he was hit with a skate blade near his eye
https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/03/04/us/johnny-boychuk-islanders-eye-stitches-spt-trnd/index.html

(CNN) The New York Islanders may have lost Tuesday night against the Montreal Canadiens, but defensive player Johnny Boychuk almost lost more than that.

Boychuk left the game in the third period, after a skate hit what he said felt like his eye. He immediately left the ice.

Islanders' president and general manager Lou Lamoriello told reporters on Wednesday that Boychuk was OK but had to get 90 stitches from the incident.

Boychuk tweeted... Sorry for the late response...facial recognition wasn’t working...

Dam, 90 Stitches....

Lightning drop to No. 3, Canucks take biggest fall

The Boston Bruins returned to the top spot in the NHL.com Super 16 power rankings.

The Bruins have won 14 of their past 17 games and replaced the Tampa Bay Lightning, who held the top spot each of the past two weeks but dropped to No. 3.

The Colorado Avalanche, Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs each moved up three spots this week.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Dallas Stars each fell three spots, to No. 8 and 9 respectively.

The Vancouver Canucks took the biggest fall, from No. 11 to No. 15.

1. Boston Bruins (42-13-12)

Total points: 207

Last week: No. 2

Hit: The Bruins have given up the fewest goals in the NHL (161) and rank second on the power play (25.1 percent) and third on the penalty kill (84.0 percent) entering play Wednesday.

Miss: They're 0-7 in shootouts, one of three teams without a shootout win (Los Angeles Kings, Columbus Blue Jackets).

Zibanejad's trade was simply an absolutely awful one by the Senators! The main reason why he ended up being traded was because the Sens owner (Melnyk) was too cheap to pay him what the player felt he deserved!

The big problem with the Senators is and has always been that medling owner! Just the other day the team's CEO was fired. The team released some bullshit story which prompted the fired CEO from coming out with his own statement where he blamed the firing on a recent phone spat with Melnyk where he yelled & swore at him. The team denied this was the reason for the firing but the CEO (Little) is 100% certain that's the reason why.

Henri Richard dies at 84, won NHL-record 11 Cup titles with Canadiens
Pocket Rocket played 20 seasons in Hall of Fame career
NHL.com @NHLdotcom

Henri Richard, who played on 11 Stanley Cup-winning teams, more than anyone in NHL history, before earning induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame, died Friday. He was 84.

Richard lived the last years of his life in a care home in Laval, Quebec, north of Montreal, as his Alzheimer's disease worsened.

"Henri Richard was one of the true giants of the game," NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said. "The entire National Hockey League family mourns the passing of this incomparable winner, leader, gentleman and ambassador for our sport and the Montreal Canadiens.

Henri Richard was diagnosed with alzheimers five years ago. I've lost a parent to alzheimers. When this parent passed away i'd tell people who expressed their sympathies to me that my parent actually died a few years earlier. For the past couple of years before death came my parent often appeared like a total stranger to me. Therefore Henri Richard's passing is a delivery not only to him but to his family, friends & other loved ones. Living with a close one afflicted by the disease can be absolutely draining & brutal. When my parent passed away a few years ago i wasn't as moved as i'd usually be in such circumstances. It was more as relief to know that this person was no longer suffering & hopefully in a much better place. Death for someone afflicted by alzheimers is more of a deliverance. Trust me, i've been there.

Well it looks like there won't be any NHL hockey for a while. A postponement of the current season is expected to be announced later this afternoon.

NHL statement on coronavirus
https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-coronavirus-status/c-316155530

League pauses season, hopes to 'resume play as soon as it is appropriate'

National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman on Thursday released the following statement regarding the 2019-20 NHL season:

"In light of ongoing developments resulting from the coronavirus, and after consulting with medical experts and convening a conference call of the Board of Governors, the National Hockey League is announcing today that it will pause the 2019 20 season beginning with tonight's games.

"The NHL has been attempting to follow the mandates of health experts and local authorities, while preparing for any possible developments without taking premature or unnecessary measures. However, following last night's news that an NBA player has tested positive for coronavirus -- and given that our leagues share so many facilities and locker rooms and it now seems likely that some member of the NHL community would test positive at some point -- it is no longer appropriate to try to continue to play games at this time.

Does this mean season is over? What about teams like Rangers and Habs fighting for playoff spots? Will the games be made up so they have the chance to win enough to points to get in, or has the playoff ship sailed with those teams who are in NOW?
