Blues eliminated by Canucks in Game 6, 'looked like a junior team'

David Perron and Ryan O'Reilly didn't hold back their thoughts on why the St. Louis Blues were eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Friday.

"It didn't seem like our energy was coming from everyone," Perron said.

O'Reilly said, "At times we looked like a junior team out there the way we were turning the puck over, not playing the right way, and it came back to bite us."

Stu Cowan: Canadiens' first-round exit shouldn't really be celebrated
While future is looking brighter with young stars like Nick Suzuki and Jesperi Kotkaniemi, this isn’t really progress for GM Marc Bergevin.

TORONTO — The last time before this that the Canadiens were in the NHL playoffs, they were eliminated in the first round and former captain Max Pacioretty was almost in tears after the final game at Madison Square Garden.

Three years ago, the Canadiens were a good team that finished first in the Atlantic Division during the regular season with a 47-26-9 record, but didn’t play well in the playoffs, losing to the New York Rangers in six games while Pacioretty failed to score a goal.

Montreal shouldn't have been a playoff team this year, it was only due to Covid 19 that they got in. When the regular season was stopped they were far out of the playoffs. They were only allowed in because the NHL needs money. So let's not discuss this as though the Habs were an actual real playoff team because they weren't in the traditional non Covid sense.

Varlamov with his 2nd straight shutout as Islanders win again last night:

Meanwhile the Avs are down 2-0 to Dallas as Khudobin badly outplayed Francouz and the Avs points all came from MacKinnon and Rantanen.

Pastrnak eyes rare feat with 50 points in 49 postseason games for Bruins
Can become seventh active player to do so against Lightning in Game 2 of East Second Round
https://www.nhl.com/news/david-past...rare-feat-50-points/c-318726912?tid=277548856

David Pastrnak has a chance to join exclusive company Tuesday if he can score his 50th point in his 49th NHL postseason game.

The Boston Bruins forward has six points (two goals, four assists) in six games this postseason, giving him 49 points (19 goals, 30 assists) in 48 NHL postseason games. If he scores one point in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Second Round against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, SN, TVAS), he would become the seventh active NHL player to score 50 points before playing 50 postseason games.

The Islanders mean business. They have two things going for them in Trotz, who knows how to coach, and Lamoriello, who knows how to find players to fit into a system. It was Lamoriello who went out and got Varlamov and the defenseman who made that block with his skate, whose name escapes me. Lamoriello brought Cups to the Devils and he also helped turn the Maple Leafs around until Toronto decided to hire that punk Dubas to replace him. The Islanders jumped on Lamoriello and they have turned things around through his moves and the on ice coaching of Trotz.

Varlamov save % the last two games: 1000%

Bruins will lean on experience in Game 4 against Lightning
After 'licking our wounds,' aim to even Eastern Second Round
https://www.nhl.com/news/boston-bruins-prepare-for-game-4-vs-tampa-bay-lightning/c-318785920
The Boston Bruins have made comebacks before.

Though coming back from being down 2-1 in a best-of-7 series, as the Bruins stand in the Eastern Conference Second Round against the Tampa Bay Lightning, wouldn't exactly count as a historic achievement, it has been made more difficult by Boston's 7-1 loss in Game 3 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Wednesday....

Julien plans to coach Canadiens next season after heart procedure
Says he's fully recovered after having to leave during playoffs
https://www.nhl.com/news/canadiens-julien-plans-to-coach-next-season/c-318771660
Claude Julien said he intends to coach the Montreal Canadiens next season after having a heart procedure that caused him to leave the Stanley Cup Playoffs before they were eliminated.

"I've recovered well, to the point that if we won Game 6 on Friday, I would've headed back to the bubble in Toronto on Saturday," Julien said Wednesday. "I feel good. I had a scare that turned out well in the end. I'm ready to come back at 100 percent."....

Reaves, opponents come together for protest against racism
Golden Knights' fiery forward proud to be on same side to fight injustice
https://www.nhl.com/news/vegas-golden-knights-ryan-reaves-fight-racism-injustice/c-318788320
Ryan Reaves struggled with what he wanted to do as he lay in bed Wednesday night.

The Vegas Golden Knights forward knew NBA players had boycotted playoff games to protest systemic racism and police brutality, after a white police officer shot a Black man, Jacob Blake, at least seven times in the back Sunday in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He knew WNBA, Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer players had boycotted games as well.

And he knew the Golden Knights were scheduled to play the Vancouver Canucks in Game 3 of the Western Conference Second Round on Thursday at Rogers Place in Edmonton, the West hub city.

It was watching the Canadiens' anemic offensive performance against the Flyers that sent him to the hospital with heart trouble. The question is whether watching that offensive attack will put any less of a strain on his heart next year?

He had stents put into a blocked coronary artery to open it up. It takes many years for plaque build up to occur to block your artery, stress of course adds to this build up.
It is usually part hereditary, many years of bad diet with little exercise and stress, being a hockey coach for so many years he certainly had the stress factor covered.
Once the stents are placed there is a slight chance of reoccurring blockage ( restenosis) depending if they used bare metal or drug eluting stents. There are pros and cons for both types.
Most people recover very fast and can actually be back at work within days, of course it is not recommended to resume work so fast for someone in such a high stress career

ALL 4 SERIES ARE AT 3-1. Does anyone come back from their 3-1 deficit, or do we see the expected Vegas-Dallas finals in the west and TB -NYI in the East? Will any of you predict a comeback in any of these series? If so who, and why?
