Given their situation, the Avs did well to take it to 7 games. Now the focus shifts to PHI-NYI. It looks like your prediction that PHI would be the only team that comes back from 3-1 down and wins is still in play. All the other teams failed- Boston, COL, and VAN all lost their series after being down 3-1. It is now up to PHI. Unlike the other 3 teams in the 3-1 hole, they are in fact the better team than their opponent. So we will see if they can do it, or if Barry Trotz has a few more tricks up his sleeve.

The Flyers only have 11 shots on goal with 9 minutes left in the game. They have been completely smothered by NYI and I now question whether they really are the better team than NYI. This is a completely anemic performance by PHI so far tonight.

Barry Trotz is DA MAN. NHL Coach of the Year!

Brayden Point will win the Conn Smythe Trophy if TB goes all the way.....although Hedman also a possibility. Point was a 3rd round draft choice of TB and this kid from Calgary has certainly outshone many drafted ahead of him.

https://www.nhl.com/news/bruins-coach-bruce-cassidy-wins-jack-adams-award/c-318952582?tid=280503612
Bruce Cassidy of the Boston Bruins won the Jack Adams Award as the top coach in the NHL in 2019-20 on Wednesday.

Cassidy guided the Bruins to the best record in the NHL (44-14-12, .714 points percentage) and the Presidents' Trophy as the top regular-season team. Boston was eight points ahead of the second-place Tampa Bay Lightning in the Atlantic Division, the largest margin for any division leader, when the season was paused March 12 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus.

The Bruins allowed the fewest goals in the NHL (167, 2.39 per game) and were tied with the Philadelphia Flyers for seventh in scoring (227 goals, 3.24 per game). They were second to the Edmonton Oilers on the power play (25.2 percent) and third in the NHL on the penalty kill (84.3 percent). Cassidy was a finalist for the award in 2017-18.

Stanley Cup Final predictions for Lightning vs. Stars
Conn Smythe Trophy winner also picked by NHL.com staff writers, editors
https://www.nhl.com/news/tampa-bay-...p-final-predictions/c-319088494?tid=277548856
The Tampa Bay Lightning will win the Stanley Cup, according to 11 of the 16 NHL.com staff writers and editors who made their predictions for the final round.
Of the 11 who picked the Lightning, eight predicted defenseman Victor Hedman will win the Conn Smythe Trophy, which is awarded to the most valuable player of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Forwards Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov, and goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy also got a vote for Conn Smythe.
Of the five writers and editors who predicted the Stars to win the Cup, three predicted goalie Anton Khudobin will win the Conn Smythe Trophy, and two went with defenseman Miro Heiskanen.
One of the five to predict the Stars will win the Cup is staff writer David Satriano, the only one to go 2-0 in the conference finals. He was also one of two to pick the Stars to defeat the Vegas Golden Knights in the Western Conference Final.

2020 Stanley Cup Final preview: Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Dallas Stars matchup, series pick
https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id...lightning-vs-dallas-stars-matchup-series-pick
So here we have it, a Stanley Cup being awarded in September. In a bubble. It will be either the Tampa Bay Lightning (whose only Cup win came back in 2004) against the Dallas Stars (lone Cup in 1999). It's the first time two Sun Belt teams have faced off in the Final.

^^^SO, I have been wrong Picking Winners...I say TBL will take the Cup...

What we're hearing about the 2020-21 NHL season
https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/29782402/what-hearing-2020-21-nhl-season
What the schedule will look like
Ever since the pandemic upended the 2019-20 season, commissioner Gary Bettman has been insistent on restoring as much normalcy as possible next season, including a full 82-game slate for every team.

"Looking at the schedule, making some adjustments, we believe we can play a full season, and if we run a little later than usual, that may be one of the consequences," he said.

The NHL and NHL Players' Association tentatively agreed to a Dec. 1 start date for 2020-21, with training camps beginning on Nov. 17. But privately, team executives believe that's too ambitious. The further the NHL pushes back the start date, the less likely a full schedule is. Awarding a Stanley Cup in September or October isn't going to be a regular occurrence.

As one high-ranking team business executive told ESPN bluntly: "We all realize an 82-game schedule for next season is a pipe dream. It's just not going to happen."

Tampa is the better team and I predicted their eventual victory several rounds ago. Brayden Point will win the Conn Smythe Trophy. A 3rd round NHL pick who was badly overlooked by many teams.

Penguins Trade Hornqvist! This is trade all about cycling younger bodies onto the roster and moving out used up old warhorses:

In the NHL you constantly have to rotate new/fresh bodies onto rosters and rotate out old/ineffective bodies
