You were all a big help when I purchased my 65" smart TV earlier this year, now I need help buying a new electric range.

Here are the models I have looked at, at Home Depot, using a filtered :

GE:https://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-30-i...-with-Convection-in-White-JB655DKWW/206942926

Samsung:https://www.homedepot.com/p/Samsung...onvection-Oven-in-White-NE59M4320SW/301348873

Samsung may be good for electronics, but it's reputation for appliances is not so good,

One factor is with induction you might have to replace all your pots and pans, sometime that's like 400 to 600$ just there. Is induction that good? I am thinking about it as unfortunately at my new place gas is no go :(

Cheers,

Holy shit! Have to do a quick google on that, and it turns out the situation may not be that bad:

http://www.smeg.com.au/faq/cooktops/how-can-i-tell-if-i-can-use-my-current-pans-on-induction/

"Induction hobs only work with pots and pans that contain ferrous metal in the base.... Full stainless steel, aluminium, copper don't contain ferrous material, so theoretically they won't work. However most pan manufactures are now producing pans which are suitable for use on induction cooktops, even if they are made from some of the material mentioned above"

By the way, the GE and Samsung models I posted in the first post of this thread were the top 2 rated models in 2018 Consumer Reports. I didn’t know that when I made the post, just read it today.

This thread has been much more illuminating than I expected. Thanks to all for posting.

Go to the Yale Appliances blog. It is the single best source of appliance information on the Internet.
They are based in Boston so may be more relevant to the US market.
Their product knowledge is infinitely superior to Consumer Report.
They compare models directly and comment on failure rates, service calls required.
They focus on high end to extreme high end but much of the characteristics carry over to economy models.

You should shop around. You are paying way to much for that model. Found this deal in 10 seconds of searching. I'm sure there are other deals out there.

I'm also looking to replace my range, nothing wrong with the one I have now, but its white and want to change to stainless steel.

That's a floor model, definitely not new. Nothing in new condition is that cheap, you gotta read the fine print. I NEVER do deals like that without inspecting the merchandise, and I am not about to drive to Michigan to look at a used range. In any event my purchase is made and I did not do the deal with Home Depot. I got a better price elsewhere.

Sears also is not going to be around when anything you bought from them needs service. You will be on your own. It's a company going down the drain and that is why they are doing stuff like this................
