obama's patients and his controlled approach won him the debate IMHO.
Hello Mark Sab,
I thought John McCain made a good show of trying to be forceful and commanding. A lot of people are going to like that. Some just think the louder person is the better. But when you pay attention to what he said a lot of it was simply trying to paste the same old Republican standard accusations with labels of unpatriotic, spender, higher taxes, appeaser, etc. Obama of course made his own attempt to paint McCain with his campaign labels. But Obama never got angry, or shrill, and rarely got negative. McCain took his best shot at connecting Obama to Ayers, while Obama never mentioned or alluded to the Keating Five against McCain. Of course, McCain needed to attack being down and sinking in the polls. But he and his hatchet princess also put themselves there significantly because of their long strategy of attack.
Overall, I think the polls on the debate show it's affect. Voters in every aspect they were questioned on gave Obama a large to very large to huge advantage. This debate did nothing to change Obama's momentum, and again reinforced the idea that Obama is at least an equal to McCain in maturity, intelligence, and abilities. When it comes to poise and staying on the issues rather than labeling the opponent, Obama is much superior.
Cheers,
Korbel
