Today, President Trump declared two genders; male and female moving forward in the USA.

How do you feel about that?

Are there any hermaphrodites out there, how do you feel?

What are the implications for Canada and Canadian society?

It's unnecessary, hurtful, and hateful. Why do so many people care so much and get so angry (and violent) about this issue? Can't we grow up and deal with things that *really* matter?

It is a great decision. There are only two genders. Plus all these DEI programs to be terminated is also good. Gender affirmation surgery should not be funded by the government nor should kids be allowed to change sexes, parents got to decide. I cannot understand how some ppl are for this, it is insane.

Around the corner
I don’t have a problem with having 2 genders it was like that for centuries.
Worked then will work now.
Apart ,from that everybody can still live their life as they please.
I am glad there will be no more men or former men in women’s sports, that was totally unfair to women who spent their life training and then had their hopes dashed by someone with an unfair advantage.

Finally, we are coming to some senses. The gender or now it will be I believe “sex” is defined by a genetic make up: women have two X chromosomes, while men have one X and one Y chromosome. No genital mutilation/operation or hormonal therapy can change this fact (yet). So, if you are born a man (or a woman) but want to play (or pretend to be) a woman (or a man) it is your right as an adult, but your sex identification is given you at birth by your genetic makeup and will be reflected in all official identification documents. There is however a very rare anomaly when a girl with all corresponding attributes has XY chromosome and even can sometimes give birth. Only in this case I believe sex can be chosen.

They are not mentionning chromosomes at all btw. They are literally referring to the ability to produce eggs or ovum. Which happens to a lot of women that identify as women btw. And FYI, the "small reproductive cell" is jizz if you're wondering.
They are not, because in some rare cases, there are chromosomal abnormalities (I.e. women with XY chromosomes, which we usually find in men).

The definition of a women is a human female, and a female is a member of the sex that ovulates. The definition of a man is a human male, and a male is part of the sex than produces sperm. These two definitions are mutually exclusive. This is what this executive order correctly states. Therefore, a transgender woman is not a woman. It is a man who decides to self-identify as a woman. Their self-identification is only consistent with their subjective reality, not measurable facts. Follow the science as they say. Wokism has led us to believe that these two perspectives are equivalent, which they're not, as it goes counter to centuries of human reason (i.e. the truth). Wokism is over. Reason is back.

Remember the above definitions

P.S: the above does not imply that we should deny any fundamental rights to transgender people.

Not to mention men who think they are women using the women's washroom. That has to stop.

For a political party that claims to be small government, they sure do spend a lot of time interfering in people's lives.
And what for? Trans people in America make up about 1.4% of the population. This is just political theater at the expense of a very small group in order to bolster support from anti-woke people that spend too much time online thinking that the "Trans Agenda" is coming for them and their children.

What I find truly mind boggling is: imagine going back in time just 20 years. The year is 2005. Someone would have told you that 20 years later we would be debating
  • The definition of man and woman
  • Men in women's prisons
  • Men in women's washrooms
You would have said: "This is insane. You must be joking". Yet it became reality.

How to solve the washroom issue: you have men's, women's and gender neutral options available (private washroom for the latter).

How to solve the prison issue: transgender women (I.e. biological men) go to men's prisons but are afforded special protections (separate unit) due to a high risk of being victims of bullying/ violence.

How to solve the definition "problem": read a biology textbook and a dictionary.

People have a hard time seperating gender and biological sex. However scientifically speaking with biological sex there are in fact three catagories. With modern politics science and facts have little use tho.

Politicians are basically practicing the art of wrestling promos applied to politics.

Thanks, Joe Biden! You handed Donald Trump a wonderful gift, more valuable than any million dollar campaign contribution. Trump took it and ran with it and now he's in the White House and you are a forgotten man. :D

Because like everything announced by the left it is pushed down our throats. Now we have Megan Fox whose 3 children are transgender or nonbinary, do you know the odds of even two in the same family being trans? It's a fad and one that will do more harm than good. Imagine being 10 and a loner, all the sudden you figure if you are trans you will be accepted. Then 20 years old you wish you still had your dick.
Just my opinion.

...What are the implications for Canada and Canadian society?

With Trudeau's resignation, we already saw the effect. :D Though obviously there were other contributing factors.

On November 5, federal Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre hosted a meet and greet in Richmond Hill, Ontario, with former Conservative MP Costas Menegakis. In his short speech, Poilievre emphasized – once again – his support for parental rights. “Justin Trudeau does not have the right to impose his radical gender ideology on our kids and on our schools,” he told the crowd.

After initially telling Conservative caucus members not to speak on the issue as parental rights protests unfolded across the country, Poilievre came out in support of the parents on September 22. “Justin Trudeau always divides to distract from all he has broken. This time, he is demonizing concerned parents,” he tweeted. “Parents should be the final authority on the values and lessons that are taught to children. Trudeau should butt out and let parents raise their kids.”

This position, as I’ve noted several times in this space, has proven (understandably) hugely popular with Canadian parents, with the premiers of at least five Canadian provinces publicly committing to defend parental rights...

As the results of this 2023 poll on trans policies shows, Canadians are more liberal than Americans on some polices towards trans people. However, Canadians do not favor a complete embrace of the entire trans agenda. It will be interesting to follow the attitude of Canadians since Trump took office and ended a lot of Biden's total support for the trans agenda. I think the changing political scene in both the U.S. and Canada will give permission to some Canadians to back off a bit on their support for the most radical aspects of the trans agenda. But Canadians take a great deal of pride in the international reputation for being "nice" and so they won't go as far as Trump and many Americans are going to reverse the trans agenda.

As duelling protests took place in Canadian cities over the issue of gender ideology in schools, a new survey from the Angus Reid Institute revealed that most Canadians support a middle ground: They favour equality and accommodation for trans people, but generally don’t believe men can self-identify as women.

Of respondents, just 35 per cent agreed with the sentiment — now enshrined via a latticework of federal and provincial laws — that “anyone who wishes can identify as a woman.” About the same number (34 per cent) sided with the notion that women are only those “who were born with female genitalia.”

Another 18 per cent were comfortable with the idea of men legally becoming women, but only if they changed their genitalia through surgery.

These results suggest that a slim majority of Canadians (52 per cent) are not on board with a recent spate of Canadian legal reforms upholding the principle of gender self-ID; the notion that only a personal attestation is necessary for a Canadian to begin living as a member of a different gender.

Right up until the early 2010s, Canadians generally needed a doctor’s note or proof of sex-reassignment surgery to be legally recognized as a different gender. But by 2017, a spate of tribunal decisions and policy updates had made self-ID the rule on everything from applying for a passport to playing for Team Canada.

The Angus Reid survey, which was released Sept. 19, also found a clear majority of Canadians opposed to the adoption of “gender neutral” terminology, particularly when it came to issues such as menstruation or childbirth. For instance, it is now standard for Canadian public health agencies to use the term “pregnant people” instead of “pregnant women.” Select health agencies have also adopted the term “chestfeeding” as a synonym for “breastfeeding.”

Angus Reid found that 67 per cent of respondents objected to this trend, agreeing with the statement that it “devalues the female identity in society.” Even among under-34 women — usually the group most accepting of gender-neutral language — 50 per cent were opposed.

“For these issues that focus specifically on female identity, motherhood, and birth, there is little appetite for gender-neutral language,” concluded pollsters.

A similar proportion were also opposed to a new trend of attached pronouns (ie: he/him, she/her) to one’s name in emails, social media posts or even in in-person introduction. While this is not mandatory among federal civil servants, it is encouraged and increasingly common, with the Department of National Defence even officially observing “International Pronouns Day” every Oct. 15.

Of Angus Reid respondents, 66 per cent disagreed with the statement “everyone should put their pronouns in their social media profiles.”

Meanwhile, that same survey identified several clear indicators that respondents were personally welcoming of trans identities among their social circle, and believed transgender Canadians faced disproportionate rates of discrimination.

More than two thirds (71 per cent) said transgender Canadians “face a lot of discrimination in their daily lives,” while 69 per cent said that if their child identified as transgender, they would affirm the new identity.

Skepticism returned, however, when it came to the issue of hormone therapy in minors; 63 per cent were against it, with opposition rising depending on how young the child was.

The new survey fits into a broader theme that has been showing up in Canadian polling data for at least the last five years: A broad consensus of Canadians want transgender Canadians to live lives of legal equality free from discrimination, while at the same time being leery about issues such as biological men in women’s spaces, or gender surgery for minors.

As far back as 2016, Angus Reid found more than 80 per cent of Canadians supporting the addition of gender identity to the country’s anti-discrimination laws, but respondents were more skeptical of a push to have transgender people use washrooms and change rooms that accorded with their gender identity, rather than their biological sex....

The probable next PM of Canada, conservative Pierre Poilievre, has never been a supporter of the trans agenda. Trump's election and his executive order on sex probably did not change anything in his stance but the media felt obliged to ask him again about where he stood and he made his views clear.

OTTAWA — Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said Wednesday he is only aware of two genders — male and female — and that the government should leave questions of gender identity alone.

In an interview with the CP24 news channel, Poilievre was asked about President Donald Trump signing an executive order declaring the U.S. will only recognize two sexes and that they are unchangeable.

Poilievre said he is not aware of more than two genders and that if the host had “any other you want me to consider, you’re welcome to tell me right now.”

Poilievre was then asked whether he would ask the U.S. to recognize the gender-neutral “X” marker available on Canadian passports, Poilievre pivoted to talking about the cost of living instead.

He said other politicians can discuss gender identity while he prioritizes ensuring Canadians are able to afford everyday essentials.

“My priority is to give people back control of their lives and bring back Canada’s promise that anyone who works hard gets a powerful paycheque and a pension that buys affordable food, gas and homes in safe neighbourhoods. That’s the promise we need for Canadians,” Poilievre said.

“If Liberals want to talk about different labels for gender that they want to put on passports in the United States, they can do that. I’m going to talk about the things that will bring home Canada’s promise.”

Helen Kennedy, the executive director of LGBTQ advocacy organization Egale Canada, in a statement responding to Poilievre’s remarks said, “Denying the existence of trans and gender-diverse people ignores decades of medical and psychological research, as well as the voices of those directly impacted.”

Poilievre has previously expressed support for banning trans women from women’s sports and the idea of “parental rights.”

Last February, Poilievre said “female spaces should be exclusively for females, not for biological males.” Since those spaces generally are not controlled by the federal government, it’s not clear what it could do.

Poilievre also has said he doesn’t support trans kids taking puberty blockers and that gender treatments should be available only to adults.
