Damn it Joe, do not Jinx a good thing when we have it. Seriously tho, rump's silence tells us what we need to know as Yanks/hoser fans and sometimes silence can be just wonderful, can't it? :D

Nathan Eovaldi was LIGHTS OUT today and has been getting better and better this season. His ERA is still a little above 4 but coming down a lot since earlier in the season. I can't wait to see the ceiling for this guy in another year or two. Larry Rothschild is the best pitching coach in the game today and Brian McCann is one of the best game callers and framers in the game, that also has helped Nathan a ton.

I sure miss the days of rumples posting foot long articles from baseball writers such as Joe Blow, Joe Schmo etc on how terrible the Yankees were

Yawn, Yankees pounding the crap out of Minnesota(again) and are now the second best team in the AL, I sure miss the days of rumples posting foot long articles from baseball writers such as Joe Blow, Joe Schmo etc on how terrible the Yankees were or maybe it's just that those guys don't have a job anymore.:noidea:

And those posts were before the season started. Rumps and those Boston baseball writers didn't count the fact that the players had to play the season.

Looking at Jacoby Ellsbury's 2 great catches today really shows you how much he puts into the game. The guy is 100 percent hustle. The Yanks have an excellent outfield with Gardner in Left, Ellsbury in Center and Young in Right.

Montreal mayor Denis Coderre attended this weekend's Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Cooperstown and repeated his prediction/promise that Montreal will once again have a Major League team. I'm still skeptical that financing can be found (whether public or private) to build a new stadium. But it would be great to attend games in a downtown stadium on a beautiful summer afternoon or evening.

Mayor Coderre: Montreal will have baseball again
July 26, 2015 | Last Updated: July 26, 2015 8:37 PM

There are no more doubts for Mayor Denis Coderre — Montreal will renew ties with Major League Baseball.
“In my mind, it’s not an if, it’s a when,” he told reporters at an impromptu press conference in Cooperstown.
Coderre was invited as a special guest to the Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremony that will include former Expos Pedro Martinez and Randy Johnson.

He says good things are coming for 2016, with rumours circulating about the Red Sox playing two practice games in Montreal in the spring.
“I’m not putting on any pressure. Today, we celebrate Pedro, Randy and the others,” Coderre said. “The important thing is to show we are serious. But you don’t pull on a flower to make it grow faster. There are steps to follow. I don’t want to make the playoffs, I want to win the Cup.”
Coderre met with baseball commissioner Rob Manfred on Saturday, their first meeting since May of this year.
“He sees that there is serious work is being done,” Coderre said. “It’s not just the mayor, there’s a team in place, step by step, our strategy is working. We had to bring back the trust between the MLB and us. Once the connection is there, we can talk seriously.”

I feel honored to be someone that is held in such high regard, thanks Hungry101.:thumb:

Again I will call it, Alex Rodrigues= MVP and deservedly so.:thumb:

If he isn't comeback player of the year....actually Jose Iglasies sat out last year too.

Funny thing....I got ask you guys....did ARod really need a little help from his friends to hit HRs? I don't think so.

Like many fellow major leaguers, he may be on Adderall. It ain't that hard to get a prescription if you find the right doctor. MLB has a list of all the players on that drug and the number is surprisingly high according to some reports i've heard. The drug doesn't make you stronger or help you build muscle mass, but it greatly helps your concentration & focus.

I'm calling it.

Glad you agree. ;)

Reds trade Cueto to Royals for Finnegan, Lamb & Reed.

The hell you say. The Yankee twins guaranteed Cueto was going to their loser team. How is it possible they continue to be 100% WRONGO!!!

Many Redsox fans had written off Tiger's SS, julio Iglesias's and his bat. It is late July and Iggy the All-Star is hitting .324. Who did you guys get for him again?

Could you name those fans? The guy is an excellent fielder, and in his longest MLB swing for Boston he hit .330. The question was consistency. He doesn't have a record for Detroit in 2014 at all after hitting .259 in 46 games for Detroit in 2013. Boston fans hated to see him go. With his defense they were hoping he would show just enough hitting steadiness to be a starter. Overall, the Sox fans I know are happy to see the guy succeed. they were pulling for him for a long time.

Still, Iglesias doing very well has done what for the Tigers???

Tigers shelled by Red Sox as struggle continues

http://www.blessyouboys.com/2013/7/...iglesias-three-way-trade-peavy-garica-peralta

The Tigers haven’t won two games in a row in 17 days
. They’ve won two games in a row just twice this month. They’ve won three in a row twice since March 23. They haven’t won four in a row since starting the season 6-0.

Since the All-Star break they lost a series to the Orioles, split with the downtrodden Mariners and, after getting drubbed 11-1 Sunday night, lost two of three to a Red Sox team that was 12 games under .500 and had lost eight straight.

“For 140 years they’ve been saying pitching and defense wins baseball games,” manager Brad Ausmus said. “When you are giving up this many runs, it’s hard to win.”

The Tigers have allowed 129 runs this month, by far the most in the American League. The Red Sox had scored 16 runs in their previous nine games — they rang up 11 runs and 20 hits Sunday.

“It’s frustrating, for sure,” catcher James McCann said. “But if the pitchers give up 11 runs, the offense better put up 12. If the offense can only put up two runs, then the pitchers have to give up one run. It’s a team game and you don’t point fingers.

“We only put up three hits. Three hits and one run isn’t going to win a lot of baseball games.”

BOX SCORE: Red Sox 11, Tigers 1

Had they been able to win Sunday, the Tigers would have trimmed the distance behind the Twins and the last wild-card spot to three games. Never had a fighting chance.

Shane Greene, in what could be his final start for the Tigers this season, was shelled for five runs and 11 hits in 4-1/3 innings. He worked out of trouble in the first three innings, inducing seven ground ball outs, but the only ground ball he got after that was a sacrifice bunt. He gave up one run in the fourth and four in the fifth.

We'll take Eduardo Rodriguez over Iglesias any day...so would the Tigers.

Cheers,

Merlot

The Shane Victorino era is over in Boston

He was just traded to the Angels along with some cash for infielder Josh Rutledge. And thus the dismantling begins.

Iggy is worth the price of admission. He is the most talented SS I've ever seen. He is a backflip away from being Ozzy Smith and he has hit+.320 all year long. What more can you ask for? On the pitching side, you have to remember that the Tigers faced a grave situation that they had to deal with prior to the start of the 2014 MLB season. The problem? Too much starting pitching. So they traded Doug Fister away for ...well, I don't know how to sugar coat it....3 pieces of shit.

The answer was signing Green and the Big Pasta. Pasta had a good first 1/2 a season and Green's first three outings were nothing short of brilliant. Green will probably be released. Since his first three outings has been the best medicine for a slumping ball club and last night was no different. Tiger GM Dave Dombrowski Should be ashamed of the Fister trade and all the moves he made to bolster the bull pen.

I will say that it is nice to see Tiger 2nd year 3B Nick Castallanos shake his sophmore jinx. Wow! He has been hitting HRs that look like they have been launched off the bat of Migual Cabrara our Bog Poppy.

Tyler Clippard traded to the Mets

The Mets have acquired RHP Tyler Clippard and cash considerations from Oakland in exchange for minor league RHP Casey Meisner.

Not possible, he is being tested left and right and he knows he will get caught, he is no dummy, his name is not Tom Brady.:nono:

That is my point Joe. Look at ARod hit without the help of the drugs. He never need that to hit HRs in the first place. Why in the world did he convince himself that he needed that shit in the first place. He will hit 30to 40 HRs without it.

Why in the world did he convince himself that he needed that shit in the first place.

He didn't convince himself. He's a greedy ego maniac who wanted to be bigger than anyone else and couldn't handle not having that. All you have to do is look at the self-centered way he tried to get away with so much. Let's not also forget he gets $410 million minimum because of his cheating.

If anyone thinks he's not cheating now as evidenced by hitting with power after playing only 44 games in 2013 and having a full year off in 2014... I've got some fabulous beach front property to sell you....ON MARS!

I'm a big proponent of PED....especially hgh...i consider them 'fountain of youth' type of drugs that reverse the aging process and make 60 year olds feel like 30 to 40 year olds. I've always been pro modern medecine and i'm for anyone wanting to improve his health and stay young if the technology is out there.

Maybe baseball had nothing to do with A-Rod's choices at the time. It was all about feeling better, stronger & slowing down that damn aging process.

I'm far from being a Yankees fan, but i'm pulling for A-Rod in his quest to show that he still can do it and i say it's likely his past use of PED is largely responsible for his current performances. He likely isn't using any this season, but i'm sure he's still gaining from their benefits.

I remember Curt Schilling saying that PED's makes an average player good, a good player very good, and a very good player great. It raises the player's ability a notch. It also has possible long term health risks like cancerous tumors. Even if a player is willing to risk his health, it is not fair to all of those players who play or have played without the PED's. It taints the game. PEDs are not a good idea.
