Title says it all.

I think it's time for this website to implement a Dark mode. Frankly, I'm tired of my eyes getting violated by all this white background each time I log in at night.

For the love of god, I just want to read some reviews without going blind -_-

I'm sure some of y'all feel the same. NOW is the time to make our voices heard (or in this case, make our words seen)

With enough people they won't be able to ignore it. Right?

Any time there is a dark mode, that's the option I go for. Definately easier.

There may be, not wanting to tamper with what coding is already set in place, to avoid possibly messing it up.

There's little to no coding involved in maintaining merb since it's a xenforo forum haha! The software provides an "adming control panel" for styling, configuration, and management (via buttons and checkboxes)

Well MERB developers... You heard the lady. Press that button, and check that box.

Then, and ONLY then, can our poor little eyeballs finally stop getting flashbanged by this blinding light

I'm just under the impression that when MERB might have been created, it's source code would have been before a webpage creator platforms had simple point and click options to apply. It would have been created when your website had to be created with the codes you entered manually.

I could be wrong, and likely am. But webpages weren't as easy to creat back in 2003. And taking an old page from then would it loose data to try and update to a newer auto click system?

Not the field I'm in, and likely my understanding is incorrect. Just where my logic breaks the concept down. I remember trying to make a webpage back in 1998 it wasn't like it is today.

Not disagreeing, just expressing where my thought process came from.

But I do see in settings they have 3 viewing options. Adding another option shouldn't be impossible, since they already added 2 options over time.

I think in this case, just updating the forum to a newer version would give that dark theme option :)

You don't need Merb to change anything. Just add dark mode extension to your browser.

If you are using Chrome on your phone:

To force dark mode on all web pages in Android Chrome, enable the hidden "Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents" flag. This overrides site-specific themes, ensuring a dark background for every website, even those without native dark mode support. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
How to Enable Forced Dark Mode:
  1. Open Chrome on Android and type chrome://flags in the address bar.
  2. Search for Darken websites checkbox in themes setting or Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents.
  3. Change the dropdown from Default to Enabled.
  4. Tap Relaunch to restart Chrome.
  5. Optional: Go to Settings > Theme and select Dark or System Default

Actually you don't need that on Mobile. On Google Chrome there is a reading mode where you can turn it to a dark mode

I just edited my post and added the instructions
The method I was referring is less complicated for the non tech savvy ones:
- In Google Chrome, click on the three dots to open the menu
- Select Show reading mode
- From the Reading mode panel just select the black/dark mode

I had my own forums in the mid 2000s, it was as easy back then too! I didn't have to use code (even though I knew basic html and css by 2010 haha)

Before being under xenforo, merb was a vbulletin forum which is the same concept
