What do you guys think of the possible curfew Legault will be announcing tomorrow? What does that do for the hobby? How will it affect your life? Hopefully we can go back to almost normal by the spring...

It is stupid because Covid does not stop spreading in the day. Having said that they should impose the curfew till the closing of the grocery stores at 11pm. Squeezing more ppl into a smaller time frame created a lot of crowds and long line ups. I think that was the worst part of the lockdown.

Grocery stores will probably have restricted hours like for the 1st wave when they were asked to close earlier.

Exactly what I pointed out and that is my main concern in all of this. It will be a big mess like before always waiting in a long line for 45 mins just to buy groceries.

For me this is the one step too far i won't allow. If i want/need to go walk at midnight for whatever reasons, ill go walk at midnight, end of story. I worked too hard to loose weight and i won't put my health in jeopardy for their damn 0.02% mortality virus. What is the reason for this? Its more contagious after 9? If they want to put me on house arrest after 9 pm then put me in jail. Enough with this nonsense. This is madness pure and simple. We are getting the Gestapo back...

Im disgusted by what our province has become. Is it possible to apply as political refugee in another country? Ok last part is a joke but honestly im extremely disgusted at our province for real. I always loved Quebec but not right now.

Well said! I'm against the curfew (but accept that at least the lockdown has to happen, even though that sucks too). But if a curfew is really necessary, then yeah: 11pm would be more appropriate.

Line ups for supermarkets won't help with COVID, so let's keep the duration of hours as long as we can.

In NY there was talk about curfews during the first wave, which was far worse in NY than its current wave. It never happened though. It was bad enough everything was typically closed by 8 pm but then the politicians threatened a curfew. Toilet paper, paper towels, lysol, Purell, etc. all immediately became impossible to find. You would bring home food only to have to wash everything down. People were scared shitless and nobody was leaving their houses at night anyway. If they announce a curfew people are gonna lose it. And as another merbite mentioned in another thread “it’s hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube once it’s out”. Meaning that once the government forcing you to be off the streets at a certain time its gonna be a long difficult task getting that freedom back. And like mentioned above, COVID-19 doesn’t stop spreading after 10pm. Good luck tomorrow gents.

I imagine that with a curfew the agencies and Indys will have to close at the same time as the curfew. This will mean a significant loss of revenue for them.

for their damn 0.02% mortality virus.

The official number is not 0.02%. It is 2% mortality rate of the declared cases In the world. I understand your point if we consider that the mortality affects the 75 yo and up by a proportion of 80% then yes , you have a very low statistical chance of dying ( presuming you are under 75 yo ! ).

It won’t affect my life at all.
I have not gone anywhere after 9pm in a long time and it was for dinner.
I mostly hobby in the morning or early afternoon, and my daily one hour walk also plus I can always use the treadmill whenever I want.

That does not mean that I agree with it, I don’t think it will do anything, people who want to meet family or friends or whoever will do it before the curfew and yes it will make doing your grocery shopping all the more difficult and will lead to crowding.
Apart from that I don’t like any government having that kind of power.

The curfew has nothing to do with that. It's more to dissuade social gatherings.

Most ppl socialize/party with others in the night. And social gatherings *do* contribute to the spread of COVID.

Again to re-iterate: I'm fine with the lockdown, but am against the curfew (at least make it later, like 11pm).

But people will just go to the parties before the curfew then stay there all night till next day. And yes like I said the curfew should go till the closing time of grocery stores that is at 11pm. Other then that it makes no difference to me because all stripclubs and bars are closed. There is nothing to do anyways.

Will they? Alot of ppl have things to do the next morning (like work, chores, study, etc).

For weekdays at least, that should help. That could also be why the time is at 9pm instead of later.

Most folks are going to get frustrated once this curfew comes into play , I see that reflected in many comments in this thread... I tell myself not to complain and that there’s a lot of people out there that have it a lot worse be it struggling financially or those that got sick . But truth be told I feel like most of you here and I’ve had enough.... I was still going a few nights late outside and coming into contact with family members that were susceptible and needed help ,,, still take precautions so I’m not completely selfish, although I admit I’m not as careful as in the beginning . Now with the curfew we will need to think twice before deciding to go out late so as not to get heavily fined

I honestly thought tget things were slowly getting back to normal , but now the vaccines can’t come soon enough . Even law abiding folks need human interaction in their daily lives so a curfew is not going to stop gatherings
No choice but to comply I guess and stay inside . Don’t watch tv these days except for sports which is still a great distraction . Have been doing plenty of reading but at times way too much web surfing out of boredom and sleeplessness

This is going too far, we're in Quebec and it's like minus 2000 degrees at night, so who's going out for fun when everything's closed anyway? The curfew is useless and simply adds to the feeling of being confined and imprisoned, not good for mental health. Also a pain for those who have to work on shifts, being stopped by police and interrogated when they go to work or back each evening?

0.02% is for peoples under 50 wich i am be the CDC official stats
That may be but people under 50 spread it to people over 50 who end up dying.
I don’t agree with a curfew simply because I don’t think it will help much, and governments will get too used to having this kind of power, I do agree with the closing of schools, and all non essential businesses for 4 weeks minimum to at least give doctors and nurses a fighting chance helping people live.

Your 0.02% is great for you, tell that to the loved ones of all the people in hospitals and who are dying and the hospital staff who are battling this around the clock and see how much sympathy you will get, yeah I know it doesn’t affect you. It must be tough to stay home watch TV or play video games, I am sure many people in the world wouldn’t mind that kind of unbearable circumstance, not to mention what people during wars revolutions and political confinement had to go through.

I understand young people feeling invincible and even being reckless with their own lives we all did that and sometimes when I look back I am so thankful that my children are much wiser and never drove a car after a night of partying, but this puts way more lives at stake than that.

When people in this province ( other provinces as well ) start behaving responsibly with regard to social distancing, wearing a mask and refraining from gathering ( 50% got together with friends and /or family over the holiday period ) then there will be no need for curfews or restrictions. I did Zoom with my children and grandchildren over the Christmas period and got together with friends New Years eve via Zoom for a couple of hours to celebrate the hope of a happy 2021. I don't venture out, don't meet friends, family or clients and have restricted myself since the 13th of March. I can honestly say I have done my part and yet I note the complainers who think a 4 week curfew is the end of the world. Start the curfew at 11pm , are you crazy ? People will get together from 6 til 11 and even then will push it. There are two ways to stop this virus, a vaccine or no host. This means NOT having contact with ANYONE for at least 14 days. No host means the virus dies. But no look at the people who travelled over the holidays thinking hey, I'll have a vacation in the sun then come back and life will be normal. They were flying in petri dishes and expected that there would be no danger ? We have yet to see the full impact of those travellers returning home. The number of cases and deaths are rising daily and you are complaining about possible restrictions, I don't get these attitudes.
