Thanks to LC, who in the past explained a darker side of ahegao that I knew nothing about (just not my thing). I ended up going down a rabbit hole of some really dark shit.

I think of myself as pretty open-minded, but I'm genuinely worried about how easily accessible some of this content is—stuff that can’t possibly have any positive impact on a person, especially on young, developing minds. It bothers me to know that so many "artists" are out here making models to generate content around themes that would usually be straight-up illegal. But because it’s all just "fantasy" and user-generated, it kind of slips through the cracks without any enforcement.

Which means it's just out there... and it bothers me. Anyone who remembers life before internet porn has seen the way it’s shaped society, relationships, and sexuality. Not saying that kind of stuff didn’t exist before, but we can agree it wasn’t anything like what it is today. Porn has literally shaped modern sexuality, along with all its twisted sides and the depressions that come with it.

When things like rape and incest went from taboo subjects to mainstream porn themes, it was already weird. But now, the amount of AI content out there depicting violence and the sexualization of young women is an absolute clusterfuck. At what point do we cross over from 'kink' to WTF is wrong with people? The sheer volume of this stuff being generated every day, with no moderation whatsoever, is seriously alarming. And I can't help but worry about what kind of influence it’s having on impressionable people over time. Is it just me, or does anyone else feel this way too? It can't just be me, right?

I think it's good that you're reflecting on this. Since the 90's porn has been influencing mainstream culture a lot, and it shapes people's desires. I'm not against porn personally, but the porn industry I'm not a big fan of. Also, people get porn for free and the actors are not compensated. I definitely see how pornography influences people in this industry... It's not something that I wish to judge, but it can be hard for us because it sets certain standards that are almost impossible to achieve for some of us. As a gfe provider I constantly am expected to deliver PSE experiences regardless of how I explain that this isn't who I am and what I offer. But that's not just that. Porn just perpetuates stereotypes about a lot of people and turns people into categories and fetishes. It's dehumanizing...

I always suggest people encourage cam girls and stuff like onlyfans.. But yeah I am not fond of ahegao either for the reasons mentioned, and often the girls doing it infantilize themselves by wearing schoolgirl outfits and stuff like that......... Which makes it even more disturbing

Apparently, this comic strip book was turned into a movie. Came out in Canada in early September, 2024. I wonder how it compares to your book? I can't find it on any streaming services anywhere.

Ehhh yeah.... Internalized misogyny isn't cute, particularly in this industry, because we really need to stick to each other for safety.

I don't love calling people pick-me's, because I know where this behaviour is coming from. And I don't want to be misogynistic myself, I've had my ''I'm not like other girls'' phase when I was younger. Often when people accuse others of being pick-me's, I try to address the issue with temperance because women my generation were very much raised to be pitted against each other, and in this industry there is a lot preventing us from viewing each others as valuable peers and not competition.

Random thought : It's been really nice out in the past few days, and I was feeling sad but the sun is making me feel rejuvenated and joyful!

Personally porn does not interest me at all, neither do nude photographs.
I much prefer a lady in a nice short black cocktail dress with high heels to be undressed in person.
For me you have seen one porn movie you have seen them all, seeing other people engaged in sex doing whatever has zero appeal for me.
I would much rather watch a good action movie, comedy or historical documentary.

I totally understand. I didn't meant to. The term was broaden to also include racial prejudice by your own kind the past few years. I was making a reference to the racial prejudice to invalidate people shared experience by using some very questionable (gotcha) analogy while also erasing decades if not centuries of colonization. I'll never understand such people hating themselves and their kin

Of course I have! I've never really gotten into them.. I think maybe it's me being a contrarian brat because they were so popular in Montreal when I was a teenager... A similar band I actually quite enjoy is Sigur Rós

It's not always easy to feel grateful for what you have and for moments that are enjoyable. I try to practice it every day. I won't lie, I'm not always great at it. But working on it for sure.

I think adding you to the long list of people I ignore will be very good for my merb experience. Anytime I read your comments, they always seem to come from a place of hatred.
