I am looking forward to read your reviews on these restaurants. I hope that you will enjoy the food. Good night.

Since you enjoy restaurant reviews here is my review of harveys on peel street. I ordered a double original, no cheese as GG is watching his calories. I just got ketchup, mustard and onions on it and i ordered a small fries and a diet coke. All i can say is best meal i have ever eaten. GG gives this restaurant a giant thumbs up. Fine dining at it's best.

Does Montreal really need even one Hooters? What's the point in a city like Montreal?

Hooters to Open Downtown Montreal Restaurant on Crescent

by Ian Harrison Jun 22, 2016
montreal.eater.com

Just in time for your next bachelor party.

Bros and chicken wing lovers rejoice: Hooters is about to land on the bar-laden Crescent street strip in downtown Montreal. The new outpost of the iconic, and infamous, U.S. chain that features female serves, known as 'Hooter Girls', in skimpy outfits, will be the second for the city. Hooters Greenfield Park, the first Hooters in Canada, opened in 2007 in the South Shore. While Asia, and specifically Southeast Asia, has been targeted as a prime area of growth for Hooters, downtown Montreal was marked as a place of interest some time ago by franchise owners Shah Mohammad Naziri and Neil Steffensen. The duo registered a Hooters business at 1433 Crescent, in the former Club Entourage, back in December 2014. Naziri owns the South Shore Hooters as well — the businessman purchased it from original owner Sam Meghani, who had big plans for the chain in the province. Meghani told the Montreal Gazette in 2007 that the "next two [Hooters restaurants] will be on the West Island and Laval — we're not sure which one will be first — then a fourth downtown."

The South Shore Hooters is still the only outpost of the chain in Quebec, but that's about to change. A company involved with the Crescent street build tells Eater that the downtown Hooters is still under construction, but on schedule. The operators of the new Hooters will have to be careful not to run afoul of the police department's morality squad; the Greenfield Park Hooters was cited multiple times for serving alcohol without food, and staging unauthorized bikini contests. The Gazette reported at the time that Ahmad Tamin, the restaurant's manager, "testified only waitresses from the restaurant participated in the contest, which is held once a year and is part of the 'concept' of the U.S.-based Hooters chain." This all happened with Meghani as owner; Naziri subsequently told the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux that things had changed under his watch. Eater has contacted Naziri for comment on the new Hooters downtown — stay tuned for developments.

Chef on Call for a mighty fine burger

So after 3 nights of gt's in a row, I decided to behave a little and order some food from this place i found on the net, late saturday night. I like a good burger once in a while and had been months since having one so decided to go that route and did not feel like getting out in the horrible jazz fest traffic and decided to TOFTT and ordered the Big Chipper and a small regular poutine.

The burger was awesome and had the actual burger pattie tasted more like a Five Guys pattie instead of the very average Harvey's pattie (sorry doc holliday but harveys is nothing great compared to five guys) i would have given it a Phenominal rating instead of awesome lol... The poutine was your typical poutine, very good quality.

The garlic mayo that comes with the curly fries was a perfect match made in heaven.......time to get back on the bike now lol.

Anyways the place was called Chef on Call and i would gladly "Call the Chef" again :)

A quick summary of my culinary travels on my recent trip:

Deville Dinerbar- on the night of VIP7 had dinner here with a friend. I again ordered the "Seoul Food" lettuce shell tacos with bulgogi style braised short ribs, sour cream, cheese and salsa, while my friend ordered the pasta carbonara. It was all very good. Deville Dinerbar has become my favorite restaurant in the downtown core.

D'Emma, Old Montreal- another frequently visited favorite restaurant of mine. I ate here with Happy Elmo, his ladyfriend and some other friends. I ordered long stemmed artichokes for appetizer, sauteed shredded beef with onions topped with arugula for my entree, and tiramisu for dessert. D'Emma's tiramisu is among the best I have ever had, served pudding style in a bowl, rather than cake style in a dish.

Chez Suzette, Old Montreal- this is yet another one of my favorite places, which I again hit up on the recent trip, although for a salad rather than a crepe. I ordered the warm goat cheese and candied pecan salad, which made for a very nice light lunch. Their selection of crepes is the best I have seen in Montreal, and in the past all the crepes I ordered here were great.

Qing Ha, Chinatown- this is a very good Chinese dumpling purveyor on St. Laurent. The only problem is their service was kind of slow for what they are serving- I appreciate that they are making the dumplings there, but steamed dumplings really should not take that long to cook. I didn't get my food until over 30 minutes after I ordered, and as a result I missed the beginning of the Shane Murphy concert at the Jazz Festival, like the first 10 minutes although I watched and taped most of the rest of the set.

Grillados, Chinatown II- a repeat visit to this fast food Portuguese chicken purveyor which is above average for their genre of food. I always order their grilled corn on the cob during the summer because it's delicious, also got the half chicken, EXTRA piquante, and onion rings. Very solid food at this place, nothing great but solid fast Portuguese chicken when time was short for me and my dinner companion.

Sumac, rue Notre Dame Ouest- stopped here for lunch with a couple of friends. It's a busy little place serving Mediterrenean style dishes with a choice of salads. I got the falafel platter with fennel salad and eggplant salad. The hummus served with the dish was quite tasty as was the fennel salad. I didn't like the falafel or the eggplant salad as much.

Great Portuguese chicken and I couldn't believe the generous portions that this place gives(apparently this place is famous for this), I had to force myself to finish off the $9 plate, easily one of the better deals out there, also nice eye candy(Hot Chicks) which added to the atmosphere, I also notice that this is quite common in the plateau area(Hot Chicks at resto's).:thumb:

I'm not into asian food.

I went recently to "Chez Lien" in Laval:
1230 Boulevard Curé-Labelle, Laval, QC H7V 2V5

Someone recommanded me this place and NOT The other "Chez Lien" restaurants.
This person told me: Take Meal # C

So, I did take Meal #C and I my taste buds had an orgasm!
I was truly shocked.
The beef was outstanding along with the chicken.
Amazing.

Domino's Pizza

The last time i was in Mtl i had a craving for pizza. But i've rarely ordered pizza in Mtl. I remembered seeing the Domino's delivery guy at my hotel a few days earlier. Have eaten from Domino's only once years ago and not enjoying my experience, i decided to possibly give them another chance and took a look at their online menu.

So i decided to order a custom-made pizza and 10 hot wings. The ingredients that i put on my pizza were: pepperoni, italian sausage, onions, green and black olives, extra sauce. I chose regular crust. To my surprise, it was great!!!!! I enjoyed it so much that i wound up only eating half the wings!

It took less than 30 minutes for my order to arrive and i definitely will give them another call the next time i'm in town! :thumb:

We are all different for good reasons and thank the Lord for that but whenever i travel away from home i ALWAYS want food that i can not get at home. I know you travel quite a distance to get to Mtl Doc but you love you Harveys and A&W and Dominos, stuff you can get in your city. Did you at least have Boustan on your last trip or something different than what you can get at "home"

When I travel with American friends to Montreal, crepes seems to be at the top of the list of things they can't get at all or as good at home, followed by Montreal bagels, smoked meat and Wilensky's fried bologna sandwich and egg cream. Much further down the list would be poutine, which neither I nor my friends like.

Another thing that I can get in Montreal that I can't really get anywhere at home is Portuguese style chicken such as is served at Grillados or Romados. These places seem to be all over Montreal but are very hard to find here. And I do live in an area where there is a hardcore restaurant scene.

Wilensky! Can't believe you know that place. So you must have been at Schwartz's as well :)

As for portugese chicken you are right, we do mention one place a few thread above. There is also Chez Doval also on the Plateau. If you are further north near Parc Jarry (maybe to watch the Tennis Roger cup) you have Braseiro.

If you're in for much fancier portugese cuisine then there is Café Ferreira on Peel.

No Harveys, AW or Dominos where i live. Didn't have Boustan this time around. Had Basha instead when i was at the mall. One of my Mtl buddies despises Boustan. He says it's crap and can't figure out how i can eat 'that crap', as he always puts it. He prefers another lebanese place in Old Mtl instead. Another one of my buddies who's travelled the world also can't understand my fascination with Boustan. He tells me he sees those types of places all over the middle eastern world, whether its in Israel, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia or elsewhere. He refers to hit as middle eastern fast food.

Anyways, i still like my Boustan, although for whatever reason it doesn't seem the same since they've started franchising and they're popping up all over the place.

I've yet to go to Schwartz, although i love smoked meat and i've been going to Montreal since 1987. Maybe one day.....
