I did it was pretty good but I still like Gibbys better! I think in time with the reopening of the new Moishes we will see if it will be as good as the old classic Moishes...

I absolutely love Gibby’s! You can’t go wrong going to Gibby’s & i recommend reserving ahead of time. As for Moishes i went there twice many years ago & didn’t really like it. Was never a fan of the atmosphere there…found it cold, no intimacy, etc. Doubt i’ll ever go back even with the re-opening. Still prefer The Keg downtown & Gibby’s.

I agree with you Gibbys is my all time favorite! I also like the Keg in old Montreal. You need to try Damas Restaurant it's my favorite place to go when you want a special dinner!

about a week i went with 3 otehrs and their lunch special is amazinf $11.45 adults $8 kids

fries are the best anywhere their saice is special and chicken seasioning served with cole slaw first then main meal

Chalet BBQ definitely a throw back place. Really earthy tasty deep tater fries... This isn't the golden light variety by no means. Tried them last month. Better than other places of this type of chicken...like Cote St. Luc BBQ, imho.

Mignon in st Henri or old port is very good. It's not unlimited steak, but unlimited fries. I don't think the unlimited steak exists in Montreal.

yes, i'm familar w/ Mignon. For this place this 'dish' is their item (not just on the menu etc) but I never said about unlimited steak lol... just the frites. does'nt exist anywhere unless some kind of buffet.

The Montreal Bagels are great, especially when purchased fresh. I have also been to Olmo's (I live in CT) and their bagels are different than NY style bagels, Montreal bagels or any other that I have ever had. My actual preference would be a St. Viateur bagel cooked fresh as I like the slight sweetness of the Montreal bagel and it's texture when fresh. Olmo's is using a very different flour which is explained in the above article. They are wildly popular locally just like St. V is in Montreal. It's just a different bagel. It's like a 2nd cousin to the New York bagel and a more distant 6th or 7th cousin to the Montreal.

Gyubee is the only all-you-can-eat Japanese barbecue restaurant that provides quality and fresh ingredients to enjoy with our friends and family.

It's a relatively newly opened AYCE Japanese BBQ spot, within the last 6 months or so. Service is quick and friendly, and while the menu is not expansive, it hits all the right spots. If you have not tried these types of restaurants before, the concept is that you cook your own food on a small grill that is setup in the middle of the table. They have various meats, veggies, and a few seafood items, which all usually come pre-marinated. It's really an enjoyable experience, to cook/share a meal with. However, I came here on a Friday night and there was an almost 2hr wait, but I think you can get reservations for parties of 6+ or get on their waitlist via Yelp.

Deville on Stanley was my go to for many years. I haven't been to Montreal since 2019, but between 2012 and 2017 or so, I ate there every single trip. I even went on an SA date with a lady and dined there. They had particularly good Ahi Tuna Tacos. I one time ran into then Montreal Alouettes starting QB Darian Durant there. He was sitting alone at the bar, as was I. I had no idea who he was. He started a conversation with me, which I think started by him asking me what was good on the menu. Eventually he told me he played QB for the Alouettes and we talked about football- NFL and CFL. Darian was at the end of his career at the time. Seemed like a very good guy. I was surprised he was alone, no entourage, no girl. Totally unpretentious regular kind of guy who didn't act like a star athlete. He told me his family was back in South Carolina. I sensed he was homesick, and alone, with family and girl back in SC. So it kind of made sense to me. Nobody at Deville seemed to know who he was. His career ended that year (2017) which was his last of a solid 12 year CFL career. He started 15 games, and passed for 3,233 yards with 15 TDs and 16 INTs. I guess he felt it was time after that season, to go back home.

One of the finest restaurants in Montreal. Forget the a la carte menu and just go for the tasting menu. Expensive and a lot of food, but so worthwhile. What's good? Everything!

I used to go here almost every week with an SP. They have fantastic burgers and good seating. Love this place

Also, guys, I am going thru this thread after, but please give me some suggestions for "fancier" restaurants in Montreal where reservations aren't too difficult to get

I have a regular SP right now who doesn't want to go to places like DeVille. I suggested it and she said "I want to go somewhere nicer". She's also picky with food like she doesn't have dairy. (I have never taken an SP out that is so picky)

So any suggestions for nicer restaurants that fit the bill? Preferably somewhere a little more intimate with seating not too close to one another. Last time I went to a nice restaurant and we were 1 foot away from the next table and we were talking about SPs and hobby and the next table just looked at us funny.

And maybe something on the safer side like Italian .. or steakhouse.. or something similar

Without a doubt, the restaurant can be classified as a high-end establishment. I can confidently say this based on my personal experience of being a loyal customer for the past decade.

Throughout my countless visits, I have taken it upon myself to explore every single item on the menu. Remarkably, I have yet to encounter a single offering that did not tantalize my taste buds.

From the exquisite delicacies at the top of the menu to the bottom, each dish has been a true culinary masterpiece. It is an exceptional to find a restaurant where every item on the menu is crafted with such care and delivers an unforgettable dining experience.
