Comparing Pepe and Carlos-three amigo' s to rey del taco is like comparing watching minor league baseball (pepes+ 3 amigos) to major league baseball, (el rey) it's not even close imho.

Carlos and Pepes and Three Amigos is american mexican food (like many so called mexican food restaurant in north america). It's not mexican food.

Thanks Stroker7 but to be honest right now my knowledge of good restaurant is quite limited. I cook a lot since I got kids, all the time actually. My knowledge of girl is now fair ;)

Cheers,

p.s. ho by the way pretty much in front of Rey del taco there is restaurant Alep. Amazing! Syrian cuisine... only thing is you need to take the choice of the chef or your die! (that was a joke)

Ain't it the truth. While I do like El Rey del Taco, it's not my favorite Mexican place in Montreal. La Matraca at 4607 St. Denis (above Mont-Royal) for Mexican street food, T and T Tacos and Tortas at 51 Rachel West (corner of Clark), and La Tamalera at 226 Fairmount and numbers 1, 2 and 3 in my book.

If you like authentic Mexican tacos try Victor 4376, rue Notre-Dame O, in my neighborhood. They speak French Spanish and English and are very friendly too.
That area has really come alive. There's one block, just west of there that has a) the best Jewish deli in Montreal (Arthur's Nosh Bar), the only real quality New York Pizza (Adamo), a great Mexican place (Torteria Lupita), and one of the best patisseries in town in Rustique.

I'm not sure but I think I've heard that the people who own Lupita and Victor are related.

Rumples, I have tried La Matraca and I concur, it's great food and quite reasonable price wise as well. Love the pastor taco' s there. If I recall they don't accept credit-debit cards there so best to have cash readily available if you go. Haven't tried the other couple places you mentioned, but I will certainly put it on my to do list when I head back to your wonderful city.

Montréal (Saint-Henri)
DALLA ROSE
4609 Rue Notre-Dame O are famous for their homemade ice cream sandwiches. They also offer a vegan one :)

When my brothers are coming visiting me from Italia they go to Adamo Pizza. I prefer the Marinara at Pummaro on
5205 Sherbrooke St. W.

DalilaD, your right DALLA ROSE is the ice cream paradise in Montreal. A lot of places tries to surf on foodie trend, made fancy -funky ice cream without taste. But Dallarose has the real talent and the passion !
Their roasted pistachio flavor are just out of league.

Mechant Boeuf has Wagyu sliders, although in Canada they call them mini burgers and not sliders:

I was there a few years ago and had a monster burger with bleu cheese. It was a minimum 10 ounce burger, possibly 12. Biggest burger I was ever served in my life. They are grinding their meat in house and I assume they do with the Wagyu as well.

If you wanna compare... Let's do it with Roberto
http://www.robertogelateria.com/ :welcome:
I've been to both. (Well, Roberto a bazillion times.) They're both very good and very different. Dalla Rose works with unique flavors of their own design, while Roberto sticks to the traditional.

However, there is only one gelato place in town that would hold its own on the streets of Florence and that's FCO di Fiumicino at 451 Viger near Square Victoria. While the others are good, they aren't even close to FCO. (And by the way, they also have the best pizza in town.)

Any recommendations for Wagyu? It's on the menu at Queue de Cheval. Anywhere else?
Don't know about wagyu, but the best burger I've had in Montreal is at Le Hachoir, corner of St. Denis and Rachel. It's a little bigger than I'd like, but they grind the meat to order and it tastes like it, fresh as fresh can be. Their fries are also second to none.

Look behind you.
Just hit the jackpot, got offered a job in Coquitlam BC and the apartment they rented me is in the middle of the Koren Village.
I have been to a couple of Korean eateries in Montreal and Alberta but nothing compares to this. I know this is a little off topic but so pleased I had to share.
Continue with your day.
